Tomorrow we are in Reading for a WNBL/NBL double header. Four great teams on show and especially on the women's side, a glimpse into the future of British basketball with Ipswich showcasing some talented teenagers highlighted by 16-year-old Olivia Forster. Should be a fun day of hoops.

Bit of an upset result this afternoon, with Leicester Warriors beating Nottingham Hoods, to move out of the relegation places.
Also, another 56 point win for Solent.
The bottom two sides are now Oakland and Essex.

Yes looks like Leicester may escape relegation once more! I feel they still may need another 2 wins as Essex may well win both against Oaklands which would save them unless Leicester get 2 more. Tough games for Leicester but if they can beat Hoods then they can beat anyone.

I did forget to give a shout out to Oaklands Wolves last weekend which I meant to do after the match, a young team, who obviously need some more experience, but, 100% free throws, 18/18!

We should have seen out a win last night against Thames Valley, such an important match which probably would have all but guaranteed us a home playoff place, but we blew a 14 point lead and let them take the lead with 5 minutes to go. Leaves us surely needing at least 1 more win for a home playoff place. I think we'll just about take 4th place but it's so close. I see it being, Solent, Thames Valley, Derby 3rd with about 18 wins, Worthing 4th with about 17, Nottingham and Hemel probably 5th and 6th on about 17 wins but 1 result could change it all. It'll probably come down to a head to head somewhere, maybe even a 3 way tie if we end on 17 each, or 4 way tie with Derby if they get 1 less than I expect.
Shame the stream isn't working today as it's 81-81 with 2 minutes to go with them against Reading. (Derby take the lead 88-87 with 7 seconds to go, timeout!) (All over, Reading miss and Derby just about squeak themselves closer to that third place finish.)

Hemel win by 9.
In tonight's other game, Oaklands are 25 points down in the 3rd quarter.

Superb atmosphere in what seemed like a full house. Big respect to Rebels and I'll be hoping they stay up as on tonight's performance they deserve to

They lost to Thunder by a point I think, lost to Hemel here after OT. How they've only won 3 so far I have no idea! Personally I don't think they'll go down, assuming Leicester lose to Derby then Essex only need to win one of their matches vs Oaklands. If Leicester win then Essex need to win them both, which is possible, they're a lot better and Oaklands are down so have nothing to play for.

Mohawks last game ended in defeat Sheffield elite 90 Mohawks 54 Teesside lions should win there last game next week and win the league…. Teesside's opponents Sheffield Elite 2 forfeited. Ridiculous in adult NL. I believe the game was actually meaningless but not to the people who had purchased tickets in advance (they have decent home gates for D3) nor from a cost perspective with various things that cannot be cancelled short notice (was called off Friday). At adult NL level outside of force majeure teams should play the game. I am told (obviously by Lions) it was down to player availability issues. It was a re-arranged game but from some time back as original fixture was cancelled due to covid apparently? Maybe what goes around comes around......?

It’s time the league got tougher with this, it would have made no difference to league positions but the game should have been played.

It would be interesting to hear from Sheffield why they were unable to play before drawing any firm conclusions.

I think the score in the reverse fixture earlier in March was 123-54? I wonder if that had anything to do with it? It was called off on Friday so it was not last minute travel issues etc so it suggests that, as I was told, it was to do with lack of playing personnel. Again for NL to not be able to field a team of 6 players seems poor to me. They have a strong U18 team as well.
However let us not fixate on that one game. My point was more that NL games should not be called off unless there is force majeure.
I think with junior NL there has always been a tendency for cancellations to occur late in the season. Without mentioning the team (so we don't need a case for the defence) I know one club that has not played an away game since 9th Jan. They have forfeited 3 away games and played 6 home games in that time....
Will be interesting to see if they make their last game of the season away.....it will be their longest road trip of the season too.....having already previously postponed it due to covid.

Tees Valley Mohawks have a tough first round play off game against Essex Rebels 2 on Saturday who won at the week 162-76! We have 3 returning players from injury and sickness so travel hopefully with a full squad.

That is a long journey for Steve and the team. I guess its necessary to sort out promotion and the like with the regional D3s. Your local rivals have a home game but if they win that they are up against either Bristol or Bognor! Some journeys involved there.

There were a lot of teams forfeiting matches last weekend. Don’t enter if you can’t fulfil your responsibilities.
