There were a lot of teams forfeiting matches last weekend. Don’t enter if you can’t fulfil your responsibilities. That's a bit harsh if they're affected by Covid. There's record amounts of it around at the moment.

Without knowing the actual reasons a side forfeited a game, it is unfair to draw conclusions.

If you cannot field a team as your players are all ill/injured then forfeit is the only option I guess but honestly I don't buy that.

Without knowing the actual reasons a side forfeited a game, it is unfair to draw conclusions. Teams who are struggling/are away from home with nothing to play for seem to have a higher number of unavailablities than successful ones. Just like any other year.

Spot on baller74. It is the same every year and in most leagues and sports! I think it gets tricky though when teams have reasonable running costs and rely on home fixtures for revenue. NBL3 teams are not going to have huge squads but I think every effort should be made to honour the fixtures at the level and above. The number of forfeits suggests that was not the case

Very much so I think most clubs have a junior set up so a great opportunity to let them play up. Players I know just want t to play regardless of the opposition and the likely outcome. They also love to go up against stronger opposition regardless of the inevitable outcome. I’m being very idealistic but if you sign up for a club you have responsibilities to your club but also the opposition

Yeah, Its not just about money. When I was dragging my aching body around the lower divisions of the EBL and often driving as we couldn’t afford a minibus, I looked forward to home games. When a side pulled out because they were losing regularly that was one less game of basketball for me, and a club scrimmage didn’t make up for it. The division threes look pretty small this year, losing one of your 6 or 7 home games would seriously piss me off

Leicester's loss against Derby means that Essex only need 1 win out of their remaining 2 matches against Oaklands to avoid relegation. They'll probably win both, they're just kicking off now.
Thunder lost against Nottingham by 6. Which if my maths is right, then we need Hemel to beat them tomorrow, but lose tonight against Solent for us to get 4th place for the home spot. I can see them beating Hoods, but I wonder if they'll maybe beat Solent today? Solent have nothing to play for and may rest players etc.

Playoffs so far:
1 Solent vs 8 Reading 2 Thames Valley vs 7 Newcastle The other 4 have yet to to finalize their places, there's pretty much nothing between Derby, Worthing, Nottingham and Hemel. Although Thunder have the head to head over all of them I believe!

*taken from the Mohawks Facebook page* Tees valley Mohawks advance through to the elite 8 with an incredible 110-107 victory. Chris Jones led all scores with 33 points, Jai Naylor 25 and Jake Butler 21. What an amazing game, fit for a championship game with a total of 33 threes in the total game with Mohawks hitting 18 of them. Coach Butler says “ I can’t talk, I’m so proud of all 10 guys tonight. We controlled the first half, but Essex played extremely well in second half and was close throughout. Both teams were great tonight’s and what a spectacle for div 3 basketball.” Tees Valley Mohawks finished the game strong with Jake Butler hitting a huge 3 with 30 secs remaining and Acho hitting a huge free throw to make it a 3 point game with 2 secs remaining.. Essex throw up a prayer from behind they half but with no luck as Mohawks celebrated a well earned victory. Mohawks now progress to the next round. now we move on to the next game next weekend, transport might be provided for fans to travel as Mohawks management will be looking into hiring a coach. Ticket prices for the trip will be decided by Tuesday. #proudtobeamohawk

It's going down to the wire in div 1. Derby have secured 3rd, Hemel I think are 6th (maybe possibly 5th, not worked out the head to heads in detail). Nottingham can get 4th and drop Thunder to 5th if they beat Hemel tomorrow.
Essex lost by a couple of points to Oaklands so they'll have one last chance at survival on Wednesday, the last match of the regular season!

We should have seen out a win last night against Thames Valley, such an important match which probably would have all but guaranteed us a home playoff place, but we blew a 14 point lead and let them take the lead with 5 minutes to go. Leaves us surely needing at least 1 more win for a home playoff place. I think we'll just about take 4th place but it's so close. I see it being, Solent, Thames Valley, Derby 3rd with about 18 wins, Worthing 4th with about 17, Nottingham and Hemel probably 5th and 6th on about 17 wins but 1 result could change it all. It'll probably come down to a head to head somewhere, maybe even a 3 way tie if we end on 17 each, or 4 way tie with Derby if they get 1 less than I expect. Shame the stream isn't working today as it's 81-81 with 2 minutes to go with them against Reading. (Derby take the lead 88-87 with 7 seconds to go, timeout!) (All over, Reading miss and Derby just about squeak themselves closer to that third place finish.) I'm just going to leave this here... Currently: Solent 24 Thames Valley 20 Derby 18 Worthing 17 Nottingham 17 Hemel 16 (hopefully 17 after beating Hoods tomorrow)

Hoods take 4th with win over Hemel, can't believe the refs put up with the commentary at the match.

NBL3 Wolves update.
Took a reasonably comfortable W over Solent on Saturday to move onto this Sunday afternoon qtr final hosting Manchester Swarm.
Swarm got an upset win in their playoff opener and seem to have the greybeard Stefan Gill amongst their numbers so could be a challenge.
Another success would then lead to a semi at undefeated London Elite who are led by another BBL name, in fact a very big name, Sam Stiller.
It's a real bugger that Wolves went 15-1 rather than unbeaten as that semi could have seen a thousand or so at the University of Worcester Arena.
Wolves must have set never-to-be-seen-again attendance figures in NBL3

Very first game back, pre-season was certainly north of a thousand with both sides of the Arena open.
After the initial yearn to check out what was going on post-lockdown the club only opened up the one side.
Early doors that one side was rammed and, even for mad-fer-it me, it was a tad uncomfortable to be that close with everyone and that may have put a few people off, coupled with Wolves blowing away one or two opponents making some of what we were seeing feel a little cruel.
To conclude, I would say crowds have settled at 500ish.
But that's a genuine 500 - can't believe Teeside are also doing this number. I've been to too many venues this year in NBL3 and have rarely seen above one man and his dog.

Essex Rebels beat Oaklands Wolves, which relegates Leicester Warriors.

Hoe many a game solly? Teesside boast 500 a game which I struggle to believe not sure why would struggle to believe it - the games (some are highlights, some are full game) are up on youtube and as well as seeing the very respectable crowds, you can see the game day presentation effort they are putting in. if you check the full game from Feb v Mohawks that's the one with over 700 unfortunately the camera never pans enough to show how many are sat on same side as it but at points you do see the folk sitting level with the camera. For Eagles U23 visit in March the side opposite the camera was reasonably filled and on the camera side my lad told me not all the bleachers were out. certainly not the one man and a dog in an empty games hall that has been mentioned as the norm for a lot of places.
