Not sure how many current members discuss the NBL but wanted to get this thread going so people considering the switch have a place to continue their NBL chats!

I follow the results of Loughboro and COB Rockets, sadly don't get to watch many games due to other commitments.

I’ve watched Ormskirk St Helens in the north west div 3 a few times this year. With Cilo Latinovic, Disraeli Lufadeju and a number of players who’ve been back end of bench in the BBL but stand out in div 3. Does anyone know how promotion works to div 2?

Isn't it just top 2 or 3 go up and bottom 2 or 3 from D2 go down? It might depend on facilities too but think that's more for getting to D1, you have to have a certain standard of venue.

I got my tickets for the National Cup finals next week, me and my 9 year old are going, my 5 year old said no, he would rather just stay home and play on his playstation lol. £7:50 so practically free. Guna take the train then a bus, that will be where it becomes costly lol. I have a feeling my daughters not guna manage to sit through both games, and will start to want to go before the finish, ill just accept it lol, after all Solent usually have there games won by half time lol.
Womens will be interesting with Stockport Lapwings returning to a national final having won 4 Trophy finals (which is equivalent of todays womens national cup) and also 3 Div 2 Play off Titles in the past. Along with a few finals appearances in both those competitions as well. In the mens, i dont know much about Newcastle University, can any Newcastle Eagles fans confirm my suspicion that they are a bit of an Eagles 2nd team in disguise. And then you have the Solent Kestrels making it to both finals, they really are becoming one of the premier basketball clubs in the country.
As for promotion i believe that only the various league winners in div 3 have the right to promotion however they may take some 2nds/3rds to even the division out after the inevitable yearly drop outs occur from above. St Helens look a good bet to seal there division right now i see.

I'm looking forward to the solent v Derby game tonight. Will be interesting to see if Derby can keep their impressive form going. John Hobbs on commentary is always good too. Another big game tomorrow with TVC v Hemel, NBL1 has some real quality this season.

I havent followed the NBL closely for about 15 years now but is this the highest level league in some time? So many clubs look to be putting on more and more professional appearance for games it's great to see. For basketball to succeed in this country, a 2nd professional league would be essential

With results over the years in the Trophy, is the gap between BBL & NBL becoming a wee bit narrower and how long before a bigger BBL team falls to an NBL one.

Well Solent made it to the BBL Trophy Final and only lost to Newcastle after overtime so I would argue that we're already there. The NBL teams are never going to routinely be able to beat BBL teams and Solent's run may be the best it ever gets but the fact is that an NBL team should never be within 1 point of winning the BBL Trophy, yet they were.

Worthing Thunder pretty confidently saw off Bradford Dragons last night, close game for the first half but third quarter blew them away. We're sitting top of the table at the moment but I'd imagine that Solent will go ahead when they catch up on games in hand. We play them at home on 29th January so that will be the head to head decider and possibly ultimately the league title decider.

I was following the Bradford game on live stats and was pretty impressed the kept it so close in the first. Hats off to Ricky fetske for playing the whole game. I always enjoy watching him for his sheer will to win plus a good IQ too

That'll end up playing the winners of Pats and Phoenix, a few weeks ago I'd have said a certainty to be Nix but not too sure now.

Well im a bit annoyed, I did the lateral flow test this morning as advised by BE for attending the Cup finals, and it came back positive.
Cant go now, such a big let down. So fair play to BE for asking us to do it, most other events are happy to just let you show your covid passport, im not symptomatic at all at the moment so if i didnt do the test i would be there today.
My daughters not bothered in the slightest lol, i was just dragging her along lol, but i knew she would have had fun when she got there like she always does lol.
I'm not guna ask for a refund. I would genuinely rather BE kept the money.

The streams are one of the few good things to come out of this covid mess.

Yeah thanks, im totally fine right now by the way, im sure i will get worse soon lol, but im sure it wont be too bad, triple jabbed as of last week. Hey, on the bright side, week off work, yay lol.
Yeah i will stick the stream on later. Its good that basketball has been providing that as an option almost all the time. I mean if it was say a football match i was missing, most of the time i would have missed it entirely.

Best wishes to you mate.
Good game at the Thunderdome last night. Reasonably easy win in the end over Leicester Warriors but they played well. Massive match next weekend against Solent, with quite a few tickets already sold it seems. It's gonna get noisy!
