Eagles have signed (and I assume used their last import slot) to sign American wing Scott Spencer. After a somewhat underwhelming college career he played in Luxembourg last year although I can't find any stats. This guy's got flight home before Christmas written all over him but good luck to him. Well, he can only exceed expectations! Suspect he’s not the biggest salary on the roster. Let’s hope he gives us all a pleasant surprise. Stranger things have happened. |

6'6" and shoots the three, what's not to like? It looks like a decent roster so I'm quietly excited for this season. It's a good time to be a sports loving Geordie!

Eagles were in need of a wing with some size so he ticks the right boxes in that respect. But that's about as weak a resume as you'll see for an import in this league. Clearly there wasn't much money left. |

Well it's as I said the other night the squad we have at the moment looks good but also a little short with only 9 and now 10 players. I reckon we're going to need a minimum of a 12 man roster atleast in order to cover injuries and season fatigue. With what we have our next signings don't necessarily have to be mega stars. At this point I would take someone who can atleast run the floor for afew minutes and play solid defence if it allows us time to rest players or cover foul trouble during games. Plus I wonder if he was only averaging 2 points per game because he played limited minutes or didn't have many games for whatever reason. Without much in statistics I suppose it is hard to tell. Never mind lazy recruitment to me this looks more like risky recruitment but looking at what we have picked up so far I'm not to worried if we have decided to take a risk on 1 or 2 players. |

Its a really poor league as you say Best I can find is Ladarius Tabb averaging 27 and 16, plus a 50pt scoring record in what I think is D1 over there. Interestingly Ahmed Thomas also played D1 - didn't Eagles cut him before September? |

Its a really poor league as you say I remember this too but can't remember the guys name. I do remember he wasn't very good and it's killing me trying to remember who it was.. Alfonzo McKinnie went all the way from Luxembourg D2 to the NBA |

Could be a complete dud, but was heavily recruited out of high school (Kansas State, Washington, Clemson), got injured in first year but after transferring to La Salle led conference in 3 point %age. Then had limited minutes at Tulane as a grad transfer.
Might work well - clearly had/ has potential. or could be a complete bust. A roll of the dice.
Guess we will find out soon…….

All the BBL players I can think of with experience in Luxembourg have played top tier and lit it up. Phil Leonard averaged 23, 7 and 4 over there and he wasn't exactly brilliant.
Most teams have newly assembled squads. It's pretty normal in the BBL. And I'd have thought the advantage of having experienced, proven players over inexperienced, unproven players would be bigger at the start of the season than the end.

Well we ain't getting Justin Gordon back.
According to his Instagram story he's signed for a team in Portugal.
Question is will he be our mid season wildcard signing and comeback once again?
And if that does happen will we have a space for him this time or will our roster be well established.
Either way I wish him the best of luck and hope he manages to live out an entire season in one place this time.

Anymore incoming player rumours or is this our final 10 man roster? I had heard Mockford was returning (which I'd be happy with) but surely would have been announced by now. Personally it's a long season and we've got two players in Neighbour and JWH who are pretty infamous for getting injured a lot so would like at least one more.

I forgot to mention I bumped into Paul Blake yesterday. He said the team are all present and seemed happy with the recruitment. As for whether we do better this season it was a definite "maybe, we'll see".
