Not sure Ward-Hibbert was torching anyone last season tbh. Shot 29% from three point range and just under 40% from the field overall in the BBL. And barely featured in EuroCup. He was a good performer his final season and a bit in Leicester but truth be told, he really hasn't done a whole lot since.
It IS more lazy recruitment. In fact it's by far the laziest recruitment I've ever seen. And I'm getting a little tired of seeing BBL twitter erupt in euphoria over every completely unimaginative signing Eagles make. That being said, I do like this move for the player. Should be a good opportunity for him to play steady minutes and potentially reignite a career that's really gone nowhere in London.

Call it what you want but if it works out then I'm pretty sure no one is going to criticise the Eagles for so called Lazy recruitment. Again after last year's fiasco of revolving door players I completely understand and onboard with the team they put together so far

That 40% from the field includes the 29% from three. So it’s actually more like 48% from two.
Given limited and often random minutes it’s respectable.
More than anything though he’s a pro (dekkers tweet today was interesting) and in a category of brit where there aren’t that many to go around.
Issue will be staying healthy.

well there are various views of course and I laugh so much at the lazy recruitment jibes that get thrown about (some are in jest but suspect some are not) which is one view - another view is the rules of the league mean you need a brit core and so you can fill it out with bench warmers and hope all your unknown till recruited imports work out and carry a side all season or you hire brits known to be able to contribute strong minutes in the BBL.
At moment its hard to see where, away from Eagles, Gladiators and Lions, there will be a strong brit core to squads. As a follower of teams in that list it makes it even more interesting to see what import announcements come out in the next couple of weeks as right now feels like a good base to build on.
(bet that lazy phrase was not used for Pope, Trippier and Wilson signings at United - or Tonali for that matter)

Just Riders,Sharks, Glads and Scorchers left to recruit from - any guesses who we’ll get to complete the set ?

What's cooking Ricky McGrill? This is great. Excited to see him back in the BBL.

Don't remember much of him but sounds like a good signing. Hopefully him and Austin will be able to run point fluently.
I dont know who we will be signing next but I'm guessing we can rule out most of last seasons squad. I was hoping we would maybe get David Cohn back but this signing has me doubting it now.

Shouldn't imagine there were many who didn't already know this one was happening. BBL twitter completely gave the game away days ago. Marginally less lazy than Eagles other signings, but only marginally.

Eagles have shown they cant recruit well for way too long
So we can't be surprised if they choose the "lazy recruitment" route this season
They had to change the way they were doing things. Their fans deserve a competitive team in the League.
The next thing they will need to make sure they do is get a deep squad. Vince signed plenty of "names" for Manchester last season but not enough depth to compete well.
The lack of depth as¡well as quality in Eagles squads has been their undoing in the last few years
Established names can drain the budget. So can they afford a big enough squad as well as the names?
Hopefully they can.
They should be a Top 3 or 4 team every season with their fanbase and history

Hopefully they can. They should be a Top 3 or 4 team every season with their fanbase and history That's actually quite funny because to me lazy recruitment would be recruiting the exact same team as last year and making no or very few changes at all. Which is something we used to do and pretty much what Riders did last year. The only new face on their squad was Carrington who they recruited mid season and right before the Cup final because they lost Geno. Regardless whether it is lazy recruitment or not if it works then who's complaining. Just because we aren't always seeking out new prospects isn't always a bad thing and again when building a team experience can be key aswell. From what I seen from the Eagles squad this season and after the disaster of last season. I completely understand why we have recruited this sort of squad so far especially if we are going to take on Europe. And atleast we know with these guys their all capable of playing well to a high standard so I don't expect the same revolving door as last year. The only thing we need to find out is can these players play well as a team or will it be a clash of egos? That I suppose we will find out once the season begins. Also you say the Eagles recruit bad but 2 seasons ago we won both the Cup and Play-offs during the lockdown season. And before that we won the Trophy in 2020 as well. So whilst I understand we have recruited a little bad the past 2 seasons. What we have shown is we are more then capable of bringing silverware to the new arena. And from what I seen so far I'm confident we could not only defeat Riders but potentially destroy them this season.

One thought is about playing as a team. Certainly both Larry and Green like to make their own baskets and attack on their own, wonder if just the one ball on court is enough for them, let alone the rest of the team.

Agreed Marc's coaching skills will be tested bringing this team together - hopefully he's had more input into recruiting than last year, and when Darius returns, he could end the season as Mr. 30 !

And from what I seen so far I'm confident we could not only defeat Riders but potentially destroy them this season. O RLY!? You're basing that, I assume, solely on the fact that Riders will have a lot of players in their squad that you hadn't previously heard of and Eagles will not. Lots of familiar names = good team. Lots of unfamiliar names = bad team. It's just that simple...

And I think someone mentioned that Adekoya has went to Sheffield. And it sounds more like Rob is going to be going through a rebuild season this year. I'll admit I could be wrong and Leicester could potentially sign a team of hidden gems and the Eagles might end up with a team of individuals who can't play team ball. But right now until the rosters on both teams are finished and have hit the floor I suppose I can't accurately judge it. But if I was to put money on it now I would be more confident that the Eagles could best the Riders this year.
