I noticed that when I watched Eagles play Riders a couple of weeks ago. It looked as if they only had half the stand (the one visible from the camera view) open and even then seats weren't filled. It was a Saturday night game, so maybe that played a part but I was still a little shocked.
It just reinforces how hard it can be to sell tickets for BBL games at the moment, even at a fantastic club like Riders. It can be easy to take our crowds at Newcastle for granted, but a lot of work goes in to filling that arena every other Friday.
I do worry for Sheffield when you see they're going to have a capacity of 2,500. At the moment they can't even fill Ponds Forge, with some very sparse looking crowds. I'd say they're between 500-850 at the moment.

There'll always be fair weather fans but sometimes smaller or not so good teams have bigger and better fan bases than the bigger or best ones.

Don’t forget the World Cup effect on recent crowd sizes - even our church carol service has been brought forward to avoid theFinal !

Don’t forget the World Cup effect on recent crowd sizes - even our church carol service has been brought forward to avoid theFinal ! I wish our church remembrance service was this considerate when they clashed with the Cricket World Cup final a few weeks back. They couldn’t really change the time but they could have made it a bit shorter.
