I feel like I’ve heard this rumour before, but this would be an even bigger signing that Koufos, Dekker averaged 13 a game in Turkey last year and even played 1 NBA game for the Raptors last season, he is also much younger than Kosta

Remember him in the NCAA title game vs duke (Winslow/Jones/Okafor) - hes some player.
This London team really shouldnt be losing a single game.

trendbasket.net/tomislav-zubcic-london-lions-yolunda-tb-ozel/Also Tomislav Zubcic, another big coming from Turkey, This is all getting a bit ridiculous now, they have to be spending way more than the rest of the league combined, I know they have loads and loads of games but I don’t want them to end up with too many players in every position

This is exactly why salary caps exist, to keep the league competitive. This team will blow most teams out which is boring to watch, and probably won't lose a game - also boring. Yes, Europe will be more interesting but at considerable cost to interest in the domestic season this year.

I am very confident they lose at least one game, probably a few more than that, with the amount of travelling they’re doing they will either get caught a couple of times when they’re tired, or they will make wholesale changes and that will cost them It’s not like the league was competitive last year either

You might be right. But I think there will be many blowouts too. At least Riders didn't clean sweep either. Oops, there's the R word again!

Real Madrid and Barcelona have wage budgets ten times some of the smaller ACB teams and they don't walk over the league Harlem Globetrotters style.

Don't those leagues have salary caps either then? I just can't see this lions team being troubled by the domestic competition but hope I'm wrong.

Exactly, Nikola Mirotic Was rumoured to be earning 5 million a year, which is probably double what some of the teams were spending at the time he signed

Could someone clarify what the rules are with regards to non-domestic players in EuroCup? How many are Lions allowed to use and does it matter what country they're from? You'd think this would be an easy thing to look up but I'm struggling.
Assuming these deals get done, that takes Lions overseas quota to four, three of which hold European passports.

Sam H is absolutely spot on but im going leicestwr for the league title Without Crandall I think that looks like a tall task this coming season. He really was mercurial at both ends of the floor and made everyone around him better. I'm not talking down Riders BUT Lions' spending is through the metaphorical roof. Cannot see any team living with them if the coach can gel them as a team.

Riders need to thank Lions for removing Zubcic from Tofas just in case we get to play them after beating Voluntari.

With Crandall I would have been confident we would at least give Lions a competitive game or two
Without him I'm not so sure
Will be hard enough beating Giants!!

Just finished final episode of Ozark
If youve got Netflix you must watch it by the way. Absolutely brilliant series.
But every time Lions sign a player they don't have the income for it just reminds me of Ozark and Marty Byrde doing his job for the cartel!!
Something weird is going on here???

Yes, Europe will be more interesting but at considerable cost to interest in the domestic season this year. TBH - nothing has actually changed. For more than half the league, before the first tip or after a handful of games you already knew you were not winning the league. However fans still turn out to support those teams. Or if something has changed - its just that 2 or maybe 3 clubs who thought they have a serious shot at the league title every year, well maybe its not as serious a shot now. So for most clubs, as I say not a lot changed. As to good/bad - if London spend big, London sweep all before them domestically and London play to the same home crowds as they did last season and dont draw in extra home or neutral fans for the games they are the away side, then it is bad.

Surely you mean if London managed get crowds to pay to watch? As for the increase in crowds for home teams, if I was to mention to friends or for Nix to massively advertise the players who would be playing how many would that add to the gate? Interested people turn up in the main to watch their home team play not a squad of "unknown" foreign stars. Except for Ovie Soko a couple of Love Islands ago!!!

Yep - mean for their home games London need to grow their fanbase and show increase in crowds (as you say paying ones) to justify the no more cap and step up in European comp entered but if they dont do that and at same time they sweep the BBL and create a huge gap to 2nd or 3rd, then I see that as bad.
As to other clubs benefitting - I was using my situation of being what can be described at best a casual supporter. I am not looking to get to most games or ever consider a season ticket. I still coach and officiate so that is one day every weekend just like that (plus Rocks are 40miles away). I do like to get to BBL games though - so I do look at the fixture list and (using the past as an example) the choice is go watch Rocks v Leeds or Surrey or Sheffield or Newcastle or Leicester - the two I would go to would be Newcastle and Leicester.
All teams will have their core fan base that tries to get to as many games as possible - but if removing the cap and letting a team spend at will is not going to draw in more casual fans to the games where London are the visitors, then the cap removal doesnot sound good for the overall league then.

I'm not against withdrawing the salary cap at all
Just really interested to understand what the actual plan is long term
They can't really be that bothered about winning BBL Trophies ?
