Tees Valley Mohawks men travel to Calderdale Explorers tomorrow for a 6:30pm tip off for they last game of 2022. Sadly Basketball England refused the request to postpone due to illness running through the club and possible dangerous driving conditions so Mohawks men will take on Calderdale in a 1st vs 2nd (Top of the league showdown) tomorrow at 6:30pm in Halifax. Coach Butler says “ We’ve got a very good squad of players but missing the majority of them, but this gives players the opportunity to step up and be counted. it’s going to be a very tough game but all div 3 games are tough, we will be up and ready for the challenge that lies ahead.” #proudtobeamohawk

How many of your 12 are missing? Don’t you need 8 to start the game?

My concern would be a loss under these circumstances will be used against you in your bid for promotion.

We had 7 last weekend against Sheffield elite 2 and won comfortably, Calderdale are a much better side, we do have 13 players in the squad and also can call on a couple of the u18 if required not sure how many are fit at the moment.

So proud of this team pulling of a result like this against a very good Calderdale team… Tees Valley Mohawks men put in an amazing performance and came away with a 82-78 victory against Calderdale. Mohawks travelled with 6 players including player Coach Steve Butler plus Acho sat on the bench the whole game due to a cracked rib and was a great leader telling the players what he saw.. Lots of Illnesses throughout the club made this task enormous but the club came out victorious in a huge Win for the club. Jake Butler Top scored with 23 points, Coach Steve Butler turned back the clock and had 16 points, Cam Johnson 12, Dan Kelsey and Jack Jopson 11 each and Lewis Butler 8 points. At 76-76 each going into the last minute Lewis Butler hit a huge three pointer and with some great rebounding on the defensive end mohawks were able to see it out. Coach Steve Butler says “ I can’t believe it, what a group of players, we fought till the end and led the majority of the game so to win a close game and stay 7-0 top of the table for Xmas is something I’m really proud of.” #proudtobeamohawk

Last season the teams that were promoted from D3 were unbeaten or had lost just 1 game. Losing 2 games seem to put you out of the runnings.
At the half way point this season 3 teams are still unbeaten.
Milton Keynes Breakers (virtually certain to be promoted imo) Tees Valley Mohawks & Teesside Lions. It seems likely one of these teams will win promotion.
That means 2 from the following ten teams will probably be promoted. All of these teams have lost just one game:
Cardiff City, Cardiff Met Archers, Cobham Cobras, London United, Myerscough Academy II, Loughborough Riders II, Birmingham City University, UEL London Lions, CoLA Southwark Pride, Anglia Ruskin University.
I don't have any dog in this fight but I would like to see Cardiff Met Archers promoted back into D2. I don't really like having first and second teams from the same club in the same division.

Tees Valley Mohawks are hoping to keep their undefeated run going but have a tough trip to Nottingham Wildcats this Saturday. Mohawks are looking to go 8-0 but Coach Butler knows it will be a tough game. “Nottingham are a very young side and very athletic, we played really well at home against them and we will be hoping to put in another good performance to secure the valuable league points.” Mohawks will be hoping for a full squad after a flu bug ripped through the team before the Xmas break but will be without Ryan Harris who is in Australia for the Xmas / New year break but will be back next week. #proudtobeamohawk

Hemel Storm vs MK Breakers is an interesting one. In two years time this could be a regular fixture.
