The problem is keeping the same players year on year - they obviously have some quality guys right now but if they move on then the team could easily drop back down in standard. So i agree, you can't skip a league (or if you can it isn't wise). See how they get on after one promotion first and if they're still way too good and can retain the players, they'll be in D1 soon enough.

Mohawks men are hoping to go 5-0 in the league this Sunday with a home game against Sheffield Elite 1. Coach Butler says “ Sheffield are a great organisation and have a very talented team, we will need to play at our best for the full 40 minutes this Sunday, it would be great to see a packed house at Middlesbrough College. “ Family ticket price is £5 for a family of 4 Single adult tickets £3. Under 16 / Oap’s £2 This will be a great game to watch. Hope to see you there 🏀🏀🏀 #proudtobeamohawk In other Mohawks news… It gives me great pleasure to announce that Tees Valley Mohawks basketball club have been successfully awarded funding from Sported, National Lottery and Sport England, The money will help the club develop and deliver a School programme for primary and secondary schools within the Middlesbrough area. #proudtobeamohawk #sportengland #sported

Good luck at the weekend, and congratulations on the funding.
It sounds like your club is doing things right on and off the court.

MK are a team that are quite clearly too strong for the level they are currently playing at. But it's the same in any sport for any new team- you have to start at the bottom and work your way up the pyramid. (The irony isn't lost on me that the football team down the road did the exact opposite of this!) Regardless, I can't see BE allowing a team to just skip leagues.
Be interested to know the long term vision for basketball in MK. If they do have aspirations of D1 or higher, they will need an alternative venue. Bletchley leisure centre is nowhere near the required standard for D1.

It is not unknown for leagues in other sports to do a total restructure and move clubs up and down to their "correct" level when they show they have the playing ability, and off field/court structure, that is more appropriate to a higher/lower level.
Indeed in some sports it is needed for a player safety viewpoint.
It seems some people lack the knowlege of other sports to understand this.

That could be a suitable BBL venue but I’m not sure if it could work as a D1 venue. It’s probably quite expensive to hire and to set up.

I consider myself fairly knowledgeable of reasonable amount of sports, I can't think off the top of my head where a governing body has completely restructured a pyramid and placed teams at a much higher level than the one they were previously at although i'm sure you could prove me wrong. I can understand it a junior level to be fair but seniors i do think the league pyramid model is important.
As you said yourself though, off field/court structure is important. MK seem to be doing great things in terms of community work, but the fact remains they will need an alternative venue to be considered for D1.

This was mooted when lions were looking for a venue before moving to london. Winkie loves a bit of good publicity and being involved with community projects around Milton Keynes so perhaps a deal could be struck, especially if a potential BBL move is on the cards. Mk Dons BC anyone?

I read elsewhere that their current venue has chairs around the perimeter of the court. I can't imagine BE restructuring an entire league so a club with little in the way of spectator facilities can jump a division.

Tees Valley Mohawks earned a very close hard fought 67-65 victory against Sheffield Elite 1 today at Mbro College. Dan Kelsey earned MVP with 19 points, 6 rebounds and was well supported by Cameron Johnson who had a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Coach Butler says “We weren’t at our best in the first half but second half we produced some good basketball, this game could have went either way, Sheffield are a very good team with a great coach so it’s another very valuable win after playing so poorly in the first half.” Mohawks are next in action on Saturday 10th December against Sheffield Elite 2. #proudtobeamohawk

Are the rules for deciding which 4 clubs are promoted published anywhere?
Loughboro Riders 2 won again, at Stourport, to maintain their 100% record.

Four places from 7 unevenly sized divisions seems a very strange method. Hopefully 4 teams have a record that stands out above the other sides. It will probably need a undefeated season to get promoted.
Meanwhile in the lower end of D2 there are sides that are unlikely to win even two games all season.

Going undefeated should guarantee promotion but it is not possible for 4 teams to be undefeated at the end of this season. There are only 4 D3 teams still undefeated now and two of them are in the same division (Tees Valley Mohawks and Teesside Lions). The other undefeated teams are Milton Keynes Breakers and Loughborough Riders II. Promotion for MK Breakers seems almost certain. There will be a lot of competition for the other 3 spots. The North (North East and Yorkshire) and South West (Southwest England and Wales) don’t have a lot of teams so Basketball England might be reluctant to promote teams from those divisions. UEL London Lions and Liverpool BC both look like strong contenders for promotion from D3.

Meanwhile in the lower end of D2 there are sides that are unlikely to win even two games all season. I'm not sure what your point is. There will always be teams at the top of the league who win a lot of games and teams at the bottom who lose a lot. Just as any D3 team who goes unbeaten will get promoted, any team who doesn't win two D2 games will get relegated. D2 teams have more control over their destiny than D3 teams, but the whole post-reorganization structure of the NBL is clearly flawed. to return to your original point, though, MKB are currently not geared up to playing above D2.

Tees Valley Mohawks men take on Sheffield Elite 2 this Saturday at 1:00pm at Middlesbrough College. Mohawks are currently top of the league but won’t be underestimating Sheffield who have a very youthful talented bunch of players. Coach Butler says “ this will be a great game, confidence is high in the camp and we want to continue our run, I’m really looking forward to the game.” Ticket prices are Family ticket of 4 - £5 Adult tickets £3 Children / OAP £2 #proudtobeamohawk

Tees Valley Mohawks have a comfortable 94-53 victory over Sheffield elite 2. Jake Butler earned MVP with a 26 pt, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. A great team performance with Juvante Hayes hitting 22 and 7 assists, Cameron Johnson with 20 Pts and 7 rebounds whilst Dan Kelsey had a double double with 11 points, 13 rebounds. Jack Jopson, Ryan Harris and Lewis butler all contributed at both ends of the court. Mohawks only had 7 players with this sickness bug running through the club. Great win for the team to go 6-0 and top of Division 3. #proudtobeamohawk
