Tees Valley Mohawks make it 8-0 in the league with a 86-77 victory over Nottingham Wildcats. Juvante Hayes top scored with 24 points but it was a great team effort with Dan Kelsey 17, Jai Naylor 14, Cameron Johnson, Jack Jopson, Jake Butler 9 Pts each with Lewis Butler hitting 2 points. Coach Butler says “ we really struggled and looked like a team that hasn’t played for 3 weeks, Nottingham played really well but we focused better in the second half and controlled the game. It’s another win closer to our goal this season but we know we can play better, I’m really proud of the team as Nottingham give us a real challenge today.” Mohawks were without Acho Anyigbo, Ryan Harris, Jack Marsden and Liam Taylor who will hopefully all be back next weekend. #proudtobeamohawk

If they get promoted we might have 2 teams called Rockets in the same league, what happens then?

The games between Mohawks and Teesside Lions are going to be real humdingers. That fierce local rivalry could settle the season in that division. I cannot decide whether it is a good thing or bad they are on consecutive weekends?
It feels like Teesside have the better infrastructure in place to make the best of promotion to D2 if they get it. Currently at least and fully accepting it is Mohawks who have the successful history in the higher divisions.
Big Theo dominated the game I saw last season. Can Acho get even that battle this time out Tony?

Can Acho get even that battle this time out Tony? Acho has just come back from a rib injury and playing well this season, in most games this season we have been slow starters, which we can’t afford against the lions, we do have a strong squad and our American point guard Juvante Hayes has settled in nicely and playing well for us.

No game for the Mohawks this weekend but our u18s continue to impress with several players looking good for the senior side over the next couple of years. Tees Valley Mohawks put on a master class today at Middlesbrough College with a 77-27 victory over Bradford Dragons. When the side met first day of the season Mohawks won by 1 point but Mohawks controlled the game and were fantastic from start to finish. Sam Garbutt top scored with 22 points well supported by Alfie Merifield who had 20 points but it was a great team effort which Bradford had no answer to. This win puts Mohawks in 2nd place and in the play off contention for the end of the season. Great result guys #proudtobeamohawk
