Thanks all, I'll pay today (by credit card).
Just remembered that Lions were advertising season tickets only a few weeks ago that included Euro Cup games - crazy.

I understand entirely clubs having to get that cashflow situation going by selling season tickets but clubs at this moment cannot predict what they will be offering in 3 months time. It's surely crystal ball stuff atm. If a club is charging £200-300 for season tickets based on 18/20 + home games that could end up being 12-16 if some clubs aren't around in September. Do clubs then offer refunds based on only 8/9 clubs taking part? Sadly it is one of the areas that threatens to cause clubs a great deal of planning problems during this summer. Last season, the fixtures were ridiculously late due to off court problems. Will all of this be resolved by July/Aug? Feels unlikely.

If you are getting a discount for renewing early, I'd go ahead. Maybe pay with a credit card for added safety. The league, and Phoenix, will still be around. Or a new league with a new name Not another new name, it's took us 10 years to get used to this one.

We totally ignored what Dunkster was saying long ago. We are now witnessing the total collapse of professional basketball. Sure, some clubs will push on but unless a credible monied investor steps in soon, it’s highly likely there won’t be a BBL next season.
We trusted the pro game to a convicted coke head and mostly everyone was fine with it. Many eggs on faces now!

When they got involved several on here looked at what was happening and were suggesting money laundering or similar? I thought I was watching ozark play out in UK basketball myself back then I thought we all knew it wouldn't last tbh?

Lions in for another big name ex NBA player
Just finished final episode of Ozark
If youve got Netflix you must watch it by the way. Absolutely brilliant series.
But every time Lions sign a player they don't have the income for it just reminds me of Ozark and Marty Byrde doing his job for the cartel!!
Something weird is going on here???

And whilst I can see why they might want to build their own arena (control of premises, availability, ability to leverage commercial opportunities) the Copper Box is more than good enough even for Euroleague surely? But I can’t see any way of making a financial return on this investment unless either European competitions or (withhold laughter) the BBL attract a really huge TV contract. So the question is - is it a vanity project t or am I missing something? One of the Hoopsfix podcast had a guest talking about arena ownership. I think it was somebody involved with the new Gloucester team? Anyway he was saying it should be something to work towards where all teams own their own arena, as you said it helps with a lot financially. I don't know where all these crazy ideas have suddenly come from though? We don't even have a proper development league or system yet we are suddenly aiming to be Euroleague ready and owning arenas! Is 777 some kind of money laundering outfit Money laundering outfit would explain it.

No doubt Cheshire needs this money, but if (heaven forbid) they fold, you will definitely be able to get all your money back.

You might be able to find some comments I made out of context that were positive about London Lions and might seem supportive of 777 Partners, but all along I have been of the opinion that this amazing thing is happening and I don't want to miss it, that it's totally unsustainable and probably illegal, and that I'm going to watch it and enjoy it until it all comes to an end.
This is the end.
I wouldn't say I supported it, but I did watch it and enjoyed it. I subscribed to Euroleague TV for 2 years so I kind of supported it in that sense.

Amen to this. As much as Paul Brown is a good journalist and has done very good work picking 777 apart, I couldn't be doing with the btr who love a race to the bottom like pigs in sh*t because the leagues in ruin. They're painful at the best of times Harsh and untrue

The last thing any of us on the show want is for the league to collapse. We have been drawn into the situation, (like most people), by the mountain of reports over the last twelve months, warning us what will happen. Most of the BBL popped their heads firmly in the sand. We didn't.

They're painful at the best of times Harsh and untrue You've left them off of your little league tables all season. You've got your tongue so far up Rideaus backside on twitter you've told him he was the "real winner". (He wasnt, but don't let the truth get in the way of your race to the bottom). You've wanted this to happen from the very start. Any moron could have seen this coming, but you didnt just "not ignore" it, you actively revelled in it. The harsh reality is there's good basketball people involved at every level from academy to women's to mens that ideally we want playing on these shores that now either have to find work or will go abroad as a result of the 777 model falling flat on its arse. Was it doomed to failure from day dot? For me unequivocally. But I'm not enjoying the downfall like you lot are.

We haven't revelled in it at all, we talked extensively on multiple shows about the real basketball people this affects. We were behind this "experiment" from the start, but after year one not so much. It seems you are as implicit in ignoring the ridiculous amounts of money spent on a Lions roster that should have won everything domestically by convincing margins, but didn't. Leaving the Lions out of our little league tables was requested and reflected by the vast majority of fans across the league. Just to clarify, as any moron who listens to our show can tell, we're not enjoying this.

Oh yea, and it wasn't just Rideau. We were right behind the Nix and their incredible season, almost toppling the unbeatable Lions at the playoffs, despite the INSANE difference in roster value.

Square it any way you want, you've been waiting for this for time so you can tell everyone what was in plain sight all along. I tend to judge basketball games on who scores more points if I'm honest, not who's spent more money. I've got two good mates on the Nix roster, I've wanted them to win all season, but they weren't "the real winners" in anything but the trophy they won. End of.

You're clearly not a listener and have way more hatred for us, having not listened either ever, or for a very long time. Non of this is us btw, hence getting Paul Brown on to clarify things. We talked about our concerns on the show, based on what he said 10 months ago when he came on then. We've not been the one saying this is all happening in plain sight. He has. We love the BBL and to be honest have not enjoyed the prospect of a Lions team spending millions and dominating everything. You climb on your high horse and ignore the spending. I can climb on my high horse and detest it. Bottom line is we're a fans podcast, and like it or not, we reflect the majority of BBL fans.
