Bugger! If the BBL's very existence is threatened by 777's 'investment' in the league and Lions I will be so angry. I have loved my club for over 30 years but if this report is accurate then it looks extremely worrying and everything could be put at risk.

Well that is not a good sign but one which we knew was coming eventually. Whilst I'm ready for a s*it storm to hit the league especially the Lions. I think the rest of the teams in the league 777 aren't involved in should be okay though. Let's be honest if the league was to get into trouble and go down do you really think the likes of Paul Blake, Kevin Routledge and other team owners are going to allow everything they built to dissolve. Whilst I do think it could send the league backwards I think the worst case scenario will be the teams outside of Lions, Giants and Patriots who 777 have no footing on will branch off and form their own independent league. Which I belive was what people suspected would happen when their was a dispute between the BBL and EBL governing bodies if s*it hit the fan. Until it actually happens though for now all we can do is carry on with the ride and see how events unfold. Although question is will Lions and 777 manage to keep a foothold on things and atleast make it to the end of 2023?

But we may face much lower budget basketball (Not the end of the world) I do wonder if Riders releasing 3 imports in the same week is in any way linked to the financial problems with BBL I think isthaturinal mentioned Rob wasn't getting as animated on the sideline as normal last week I wonder if off field issues are impacting everybodys morale Could be wrong of course. But I wonder what's really going on behind the scenes This is people's livelihoods on the line

Sadly a predictable situation, from when 777 forced the removal of the salary cap rules. The top tier of UK basketball has collapsed and restructured before. Perhaps the, pre 777, policy of sustainable organic growth was the right policy.

Worrying. Isn't there anyone steering the ship?, Some sort of regulation?

Is anyone surprised? If you are, then quite frankly I've no sympathy. This day was always coming.
Top level basketball will survive here in some form. I've always said enjoy it whilst it lasts though...

My guess is those plans could get canned in the league goes into administration.

The financial prudence from Kevin at Riders may well be the best decision this season.
The important thing is for all the club owners to ensure thier individual clubs survive.
Lions falling into administration, or liquidation, will be colateral damage, but 777 created the situation.
From the other articels on 777, it seems their entire operation is unable to meet it's liabilities.

It has always been when not if. It has been obvious to those looking from an objective perspective.
Sustainable, organic growth will always beat out deluded people who don’t understand the market and think that ‘if you build it, they will come’ works.
Last time I made a few comments, there were responses from what was clearly paid PR. Wonder if they’ve been paid.

Worst case scenario all clubs enter d3 next year and work their way up. If you’ve built a good fan base you should survive. Plymouth with a bbl rival in the city too. Worcester are still having great crowds too. The bbl has many faults, this could be the reboot that’s needed.

Have any league media made any comment? I remember the drew and jay show burying their heads with it saying it was fine. Clear message from the league ran podcast but what else?

Boring. This is the same old jargon Josimar have reported in the past.

Other, very reputable, media sources have also reported about the financial difficulties of 777.
The collapse of their involvement in the BBL, and of the teams they own, may actually be a positive for the league and the remaining clubs.

With tonights Eagles game being the last one before Christmas. If I end up seeing Santa Claus I might go up and ask if 777 are on his naughty list by any chance?

Not sure I would read too much into the Josimar speculation on BBL administration unless the BBL itself makes a public comment to confirm/deny, but it was interesting to read that 777 could take over the lease of the Copper Box from GLL. That could be a very positive move for the club.
