4 games on the schedule for Friday and 2 for Sunday. Would folk prefer individual game threads or one umbrella thread to discuss the action? Happy to do either as people prefer.
Friday 14 January 2022 7:30pm CH Bristol Flyers v Leicester Riders 7:30pm CH Newcastle Eagles v London Lions 7:30pm CH Plymouth v Surrey Scorchers (*) 7:30pm CH Sheffield Sharks v Cheshire Phoenix
Sunday 16 January 2022 5:30pm CH Cheshire Phoenix v Glasgow Rocks 5:00pm CH Manchester Giants v Plymouth

I think one for the whole week is the best way to go in my opinion

I'd probably prefer each game having a separate thread but I'd be happy to try out the umbrella idea aswell.

I think 1 thread per week is best

For now I've just edited this to cover the whole weekend (or week) but will see what others say as they arrive.

The top 8 play off teams appear to be locked now, looking good for the Riders but still a long way to go. It would be good if the Lions dont win the league despite there fantastic European run, it would do wonders for the leagues reputation as a whole.

I don't mind either way, as long as people make it clear what game they're talking about (if we go down the single thread route). And if we do go down the single weekly thread route, could we at least list the scheduled games in the opening post? Also, I'll migrate the London Lions Europe Cup thread over to this new board sometime tomorrow ahead of their next game on Wednesday.

yep i think, list the games, and perhaps the table as the BBLs website version is often displaying an error or two
the thing i dont like about single game ones is that they swamp the front page , and other generic threads get pushed off way too quickly, yet some game threads only have 1 or two posts

One thread per game for me.
See how it goes and then make a final decision after 1-2 months.

Ok cool lets do that then. Does anyone want to volunteer to put the thread up each week and the table? I don't mind doing it but probably wouldn't have any comments of my own to add so it might be better for someone who is intending to post on it anyway to do it?*
*on that note when we get busier and more people here I will ask for people who want to help moderate and stuff, its just early days right now - but dont think I see this as 'my' site, its OUR site, and anyone else who wants to use it for the proper purposes. I just set it up!

Just as a personal preference I prefer individual threads as multiple chats can get very mixed up, But Iām happy to go with the majority.

I've put the games at the top but here they are again for this week:
Friday 14 January 2022 7:30pm CH Bristol Flyers v Leicester Riders 7:30pm CH Newcastle Eagles v London Lions 7:30pm CH Plymouth v Surrey Scorchers (*) 7:30pm CH Sheffield Sharks v Cheshire Phoenix
Sunday 16 January 2022 5:30pm CH Cheshire Phoenix v Glasgow Rocks 5:00pm CH Manchester Giants v Plymouth
Let's see how it goes keeping the chat in one place. At the moment we're still building up members so there might not be as many posts as usual but if it gets busy we can go to a thread per game. I agree with sm11 that it can swamp the main page a bit on a busy week!

Well from looking at this week of games looks like it's going to be a cracking week. The 3 games that stand out for me are...
-Eagles v Lions (Trophy)
I'm excited and nervous for the London vs Newcastle game as I'm hoping we can pull off another upset especially in the Trophy but reckon we will struggle in that one. Although on one of the bbl show podcasts their was an accusation that this London team was built to just focus on Europe. For the Eagles sake I hope that is right but in a one off game as we have seen anything can happen.
-Bristol v Riders
With the cup final looming and Flyers foiling their chance of a sweep this year I imagine Riders will be looking for some payback over Bristol. Although seeing how they beat the Eagles last month if Bristol win this then perhaps they might have the potential of being a dark horse this season. I reckon Rob and the Riders will probably not let that happen but it will be interesting to see how both teams respond after last week.
-Plymouth vs Surrey (Sky Sports)
And finally Plymouth vs Surrey should be interesting even if its a basement match as both teams are fighting for the playoff and Plymouth their first (official) win in the league. I imagine Surrey will be hurting from their Trophy exit last weekend as the scales tipped from their new years day upset win over London. But for both teams right now this is the best chance to atleast grab a win for pride and get some publicity on sky too. Plus with Plymouth in the next round of the Trophy maybe some momentum.

Although on one of the bbl show podcasts their was an accusation that this London team was built to just focus on Europe. For the Eagles sake I hope that is right but in a one off game as we have seen anything can happen. Looking forward to this one... I wouldn't say it was an accusation on The BBL Show that Lions were built just to focus on Europe, just that we don't know what their focus is. In other words, it's possible that their focus is success in the Europe Cup, and all matters BBL aren't too important to them. The problem with that view, as Drew said on the show, if you don't win the Europe Cup (which, let's be honest, they won't) and you don't win anything in the BBL then you're left with a season of winning absolutely nothing - and as a headline that's an awful season for the team. The other problem with that view is that if you don't win anything domestically then you might not even get an invite to Europe. Personally, I don't think Lions are disregarding all BBL competitions. But I do think their priority is the Europe Cup, and the distraction is having a negative impact on their chances in BBL competitions. Anyway, back to this week's game... now that Leicester Riders are out of the Trophy competition the path to winning it suddenly seems much clearer for Lions. But Newcastle Eagles in the first round certainly isn't a guaranteed win. Especially as Lions haven't been in the country for over a week - they played in Russia on Saturday, went straight to Denmark, and will then be going straight to Newcastle. That's a lot of travelling directly before such an important Trophy game.

Think I'm going to be an Eagles fan in their game against Lions. Hope it's very close whichever team triumphs.

I'll update the percentage league table every weekend, if not more.

Looking forward to another battle with the Phoenix
Always loved the rivalry we had with them a few years ago, especially with the revolving door stuff.

I hope we get out of the starting blocks a lot faster than we did against Flyers last time we met. There's plenty of incentive to get the win.
