What was with Mockford last night,
I was watching him during the warm up, maybe about 45 to go before tip off,
He was hitting 3’s from everywhere, I thought we were in for a rough ride trying to contain him,
So to end the game with zero point from 10.06 minutes play and only shooting one three pointer was a surprise.

He’s always been very very streaky, but usually hits his streak against Riders. I’ve never quite understood how he deserves a GB place, maybe something to do with club coach being GB coach too.

He started off the season well as we were doing isolation plays to get him open. Since the influx of new players he's more been used as a defensive stopper since Hamlet and Cohn are so utterly awful on that end of the court. The last few games he hasn't even looked to shoot. I think at this stage of his career we all know how streaky he is, but he isn't even looking to take those shots anymore.

Couple of takeaways from Flyers v Giants: 1. Flyers are beyond legit now - keep getting better. 2. No team is more reliant on a single player than Giants and William Lee. Team defence absolutely absent when he is. 3. Drop off from Giants starting 5 to their bench might be the biggest in the whole league, Nathan Robinson excepted. Vince had a budget for quality but not depth? No one has any idea what the budget is, or who’s provided it! One thing Vince did say was he hoped to top it up with local cash. I don’t sense that’s happened. The team has no kit sponsors and those with boards in the arena aren’t on the level of the big local corporates backing Riders or Eagles. I think that might come next year - AO sponsors Thunder netball, AJ Bell cricket and Sale Sharks etc. My take is that the quality of the league has moved on from this bench. Guys like Lewis, Jones etc would give quality minutes 4 years ago and now aren’t at the level - but can see why Vince went there. Johnson is probably on a good wedge but is way off his game this year which his stats beat out, and Robertin is an enigma every coach thinks they can crack. Adz from BTR nailed it - the team misses Jamell way more than Clark. He’d keep them in games without Lee, Dirk and Green have replaced Dan.

This afternoon's Sharks v Gladiators game will be interesting to watch to see what we'll be up against. Glasgow have a resilience about them under Murray's coaching that is tough to break down. He has them believing in his style of basketball. They all work so hard for the team and Sloan is a great acquisition.

Aaron Menzies 14.28 minutes and zero point, How many time did he have the ball directly under the basket and failed to put it home, He’s 9’4” he should stand on his tip toes and place it in or use his enormous size and jam the ball home hard. He’ll either get the bucket or end up being fouled most of the time. We don’t just need him to be there to pull down rebounds, We need real points to come from him. Almost likes hes a downgrade?

Well I said we'd be lucky to win one Quarter looks like that was the only thing we achieved last night judging by 4th Quarter stats. Just got round to watching the game now and clearly didn't miss much apart from Riders running riot so I stopped watching in the 3rd Quarter once Leicester went 30 points up.
Firstly as much as I hate to say it well done Riders who once again out classed us. As for the Eagles I don't really know what more I can say that hasn't already been said other than absolute shambles! Did okay in the 1st half then fell apart completely towards the end of the 2nd Quarter.
Maybe if we can't win games the team might as well start brining a note pad and pen so we can start learning the from other teams how it's actually done!

Mockford has been a disappointment in BBL for years and as you said, how does he get inGB team I felt the same when we signed him and I would bet you any money he will abandon us mid season just like he did with Cheshire last season and that was just before a final too. However seeing how slim our success rate is it wouldn't surprise me if his bag is packed and gone come Christmas

To belatedly answer IRF's question, some of us Eagles fans go right back to the days BF (before Fab) when there was no winning "tradition" - just the mid table obscurity of the Tom Hancock/ Craig Lynch era. It was a great grounding though, to appreciate the c. 15 years of success that kicked off at Brighton in 2005, and NEVER take it for granted. We'll be back, just not this season ! .

He is right teams will have both glory days and dark days. Who's to say one day Rob like Fab won't one day be presented an offer like assistant coach on an NBA team and then leave the Riders. All I can say to Leicester fans enjoy these moments as it may not last forever. And you've set yourself up a date with Caledonia now with Riders turn to host dinner this time. I'm sure Rob now will be wanting to makesure he doesn't allow the Gladiators to prevent them from picking up sliverware.

Feel like Mockford is performing at about his usual rate in the BBL. He's been average when shots go in and shocking when the shots off. Hated the signing at the time and he's done nothing to change my mind. To make matters worse he looked like a different for GB in OUR arena 2 weeks ago! As others have said he doesn't look invested at all.

What makes this loss worse is the fact that I was believing this Leicester team was having some issues as well especially after the loss of Geno.
It's one thing losing to Leicester or a team when they are at the top of their game like last season. To be up against them this season and still get destroyed by 20 to 30 points is a really worrying sign.
And to make it even worse we're not even halfway through the season and things are looking bleak. And so many questions can be asked such as
-What has gone wrong? -Who is to blame back stage? -Why did we cut certain players and not others? -Are anymore changes to come? -What is the team moral like and what is motivating them? -What is the ambition now? -What can be done to keep the fans hoping?

You're absolutely right - having watched Riders for well over 30+ years, when we actually started challenging Eagles' domination of the BBL it was thrilling. If Paternostro moved on then our ability to win silverware/be competitive could all go south in a heartbeat. I am really surprised by Newcastle this season. I look at the individual players and think that they ought to add up to a better collective than they have so far.

Go to hand it to Newcastle fans - to fill your arena with despite a weak set of results is very impressive. Whatever issues the team faces the coach can be confident that fans will get behind the team and see it through any arid spells.
