Do you honestly think hes capable of putting up 16 points off the bench in 10 minutes like walker can? He cant hence hes a downgrade I'd say yes, based upon the fact you are quoting stats from one game.
Walkers stats up until he was injured were 10.6pts, 15.8 mins, 4.4 reb.
Last season they were 11.6pts, 17.9 mins, 5.2 reb.

Impressive first minutes for menzies on his debut. His size and presence seems to be confusing Sheffield

Ah but is he one of those guys who start well but after teams have had a proper look at him, they work out how to defend and attack him and his impact reduces? Lots of big, I mean really big, men go that way.

Impressive first minutes for menzies on his debut. His size and presence seems to be confusing Sheffield Yes hes a good solid signing by the looks of it Thornton still struggling badly though He was ineffective when played in the first half and barely allowed on court in the second half with Paternostro preferring Washington & Mackenzie. It's the elephant in the room for Riders atm. We are winning games despite Thornton not because of him. Apart from his first game where he was MVP, I am worried that he just isn't the right fit for Riders. He looked utterly dejected at the end of the game and I wonder whether he and the club will be parting ways before too long. For whatever reason his stats have gone downhill since his good start. If we had him scoring 15 ppg and dishing out 5 assists on average then Riders would be putting other teams to the sword much more easily than at present. Something surely has to change soon?

Sometimes it's not just best for the club but also best for the player as well He's not enjoying it You can tell

Could Leicester really go for a 4th import pg this season?
Recruitment is terrible if so, theyre losing so many games compared to before, downward spiral from here.
Its must be Russell Leverstons fault right irf?
Joking aside hes clearly a very good pg but not the right fit for the system, i dont think rob would cut him because it would make him look bad, hell end up as a backup behind connor I reckon tbis year

I understand why people are concerned about Thornton but looking at his stats are they really that bad? www.bbl.org.uk/competitions/?WHurl=%2Fperson%2F1921218%2Fgamelog%3FOf the three league games that we have lost he was absent for two of them. He was missing for two weeks with ”a virus” …….what impact has that had on him…..was it Covid? For the last two games he has got into early foul trouble…..that can happen to anyone new to the BBL….ask Aaron Menzies Are we expecting too much of him “post Geno”? His wrist appears to have some strapping on it….. Trust in Rob!

Joking aside hes clearly a very good pg but not the right fit for the system, i dont think rob would cut him because it would make him look bad, hell end up as a backup behind connor I reckon tbis year We were saying exactly this on Friday night. I have no idea how visas currently work or how things have changed over the years but I know that when we've made early season changes in previous years we've sometimes brought players in on some sort of temporary visa which can then be upgraded to last for the full season when the temp runs out. Going back a few posts I think that's what happened with Wayne Martin. They then chose to release him at the end of that. Might be wrong there but think that's essentially what happened. Id imagine if Thornton's already fully signed up for the season then he lasts the year and they try to find a role for him. If not they roll the dice on someone else if the right player is available. Every change has a cost though. I'd imagine how close they are to London come the signing deadline might also play a part. It would for me.
