I used to watch a lot of ncaa and seattle were often featured on bt sport. Always looked like a tall guy who wouldn't be a player if he he was 6 inches shorter

Do you honestly think hes capable of putting up 16 points off the bench in 10 minutes like walker can? He cant hence hes a downgrade

Any player in the world wouldn’t be able to play at the level they do if they were 6 inches shorter… at Seattle in 2018 he averaged 11 & 9. Walker averaged 12 & 7 at a comparable uni during his best season, so if we are comparing them on their time at college (I don’t believe this is a good idea as it was years ago) it’s not a downgrade.
He will score in bunches but his role will be completely different to Walker. If all you’re focussing on is scoring ability then yeah I guess he’s a downgrade, there’s quite a lot more to basketball than that though in my opinion. He will change more shots, get guards more space in the pick and roll and mean that teams will have to make more adjustments against them.
Ultimately, time will tell but I think announcing his signing with negativity is strange and it’s a real shame Walker is injured as he is a great fit for them.

We shouldn't have to wait too long before we can judge him in situ.

Good signing in my opinion, and a great coach/organisation for him to be with development wise as one of the younger guys we need to step up into the GB setup. From my experience of watching Rob develop players this will go one of two ways 1) Rob will find something he can work with and he will become a great asset to the team and improve as a player 2) Rob will figure out there's very little to work with and he will only get nothing minutes and he won't be at Riders next season Either way the whole of BBL and player himself gets to find out how good he actually is If he's got real basketball IQ Rob will find it So in that respect it's a very interesting signing

You can’t play NCAAD1, and the level he has in Spain and Germany if there’s “nothing to work with”. Whether it works at riders or not won’t decide that as the Riders aren’t the centre of the basketball world.
The signing might not work (I think on this occasion it will), there’s a fairly long list of big guys who Robs system hasn’t got the best out of in my opinion but that certainly doesn’t mean the individual can’t play. It also doesn’t mean the system is a problem, obviously!
Look at brits like Germaipoor, Richards, even MBA. Being a big in the BBL seems to be a tough gig due to the style of play, and there is little respect given from fans, possibly due to lack of understanding and more interest in PPG than anything else’s. All the players above have been huge parts of multiple teams abroad and earns more money than almost all British pros over the last 15 years , but all 3 aren’t regarded as “successes” by a lot of BBL fans.
Anyway, I probably shouldn’t comment as this basketball debate was officially shut down a few posts ago, probably not the right forum for it 🤷♂️

Im not sure one person saying they have nothing further to add 'officially' shuts anything down, other people are commenting too. Which is more than I can say for the other place, but everyone has a choice where to go.

Who would have thought Riders signing a bench centre could cause such a ruckus?

This isn't a ruckus - again, I direct you to the other site for that. It's about all they have on there these days.

A good coach will get the most possible of of his players, especially if the player is willing to learn, and accepts how he fits into the team.
Remember this is a team game, not an individual sport.

My comment regarding not being the right forum was me being sarcastic about the fact debating basketball on a basketball seems to be controversial for some.
I also agree, this is far from a ruckus, just trying to share my opinion 🤷♂️

Tallerman is showing a lot of potential
In time with more practise he's capable of being better than me at winding people up on basketball forums
Respect where it's due!!

I was only responding to comments he might not be that great. If he's decent Rob will make good use of it and he's a great signing with that size In an ideal world we wouldn't have to replace Walker in the first place and we wouldn't be talking about downgrades

Tallerman is showing a lot of potential In time with more practise he's capable of being better than me at winding people up on basketball forums Respect where it's due!! Lol I don’t get this. It’s a place for discussion about basketball not winding each other up. I can promise you, talking about the bbl does not get me wound up, whether I agree or disagree vehemently with anyone or not. The thing that winds me up is that discussion about basketball seems to be shut down by garbage. Forget the “other” place and all these pissing contests and have some rows/discussions about basketball without intentionally trying to play some character that’s tedious.

After I’ve disagreed with most on here in this thread you can almost guarantee he will end up being cut/playing for Loughborough 😂😂😂

I thought IRF was being sarcastic actually - we are allowed a bit of humour here too Tallerman has nothing more to add, thats fine and his choice. We will see if this fella is any good or not then the real willy waving can begin (or hopefully, not!)

Can't decide if they are lucky finding a big man available part way through a season or if it's a hint as to his capability by being available. Personally I'd be pleased and optimistic. But time will no doubt tell.
