It's good the police were able to apprehend the culprit. I'd rather the club didn't suffer a penalty. They have a duty of care of course BUT this could happen at any arena. However, if a number of the Plymouth fans chanted racist insults I would want sanctions for those individuals and the club. It's a matter of degree. It definitely could have been much more serious and I'm relieved it wasn't.

A sanction needs to be put in place from the league so that it's clear you can't get away with it.
After nearly 30 years of basketball at the venue it's a real shame the last game held at pavilions was spoilled by an idiot

When a players brother attacks an opposition coach the club should face serious consequences. Absolutely embarrassing Do you think that player will be omitted from Sundays roster?

Highly doubt it, perhaps would be wise to though

Going to be a highly charged event, especially if Plymouth play tag team wrestling again. My concern would be that we might lose a player to a disqualifying foul in retaliation to provocative behaviour. Hope I'm wrong and too pessimistic (that's so out of character and unlike me) and it's all dingly dell niceness tomorrow.

Didn't see it and condemn it but you can't blame the team or the venue. Duty of care sure, but how do you stop something like that happening? Pubs have a duty of care too, doesn't mean they don't get incidents.
Don't think you can blame or sanction the player either just because his brother is a prat.
Also I don't mind a bit of rough play if it's within the rules, ok it might push boundaries or bend rules but they have to use what they have as they know if it's down to talent they have no hope. Ever read the Jordan Rules? That's all this is, from the sounds of it. If Riders are the champions they look like, they'll still find a way to overcome it.
I go back to the Riders team featuring Jaron Boone and big James Havrilla, remember them roughing a few people up back in the day, upsetting a few characters. That's basketball sometimes.

Yes if this was the third or fourth time it happened here or if it was similar to the famous Malice in the Palace NBA game of 2004 I would agree. But since the situation hardly sky rocketed out of control and the culprit was caught and Rob is alright I don't think the League needs to take any further action with this. I watched a great Netflix Documentary on the Malice in the Palace Documentary last year if anyone wants to see what I mean. Probably one of the worst fan crowds in history of sport. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Malice_at_the_Palace

Looks like more of the same for the 2nd leg….. 'Feisty' - so that's what he calls their style of play yesterday. Master of understatement.

Having not seen the feisty style of play, I'm keen to understand what happened? Was this a Jordan Rules type of thing? Playoff basketball is supposed to be gritty - go play golf or tiddly winks if you're not up to the task.
Or did it overstep into blatant violence and thuggery? In which case did the refs swallow their whistles? Have the BBL suspended anyone for game 2?

I wouldn't have said it was anything out of the ordinary. PJ always plays super physical. Even when he had some of the most talented teams in the league. Cant remember a PJ team that didn't come close to the line between physical and dirty. Last night (as they were last week) they were just super physical and tried to push us our of our comfort zone. Essentially saying we're going to foul on every play and dare the refs to call it every play. Pretty much their only option with the disparity in talent and depth. And it worked for a while. I thought it went almost as well as it could have for most of the night for Plymouth. Just that extra talent and extra depth came through in the end for riders.

Did I imagine reading on here that the second leg is the sky match tomorrow? Just checked Sky Sports now and seen that it is still Sharks@Rocks tommorow. Last week it was mean to be Pats@Riders in the final regular season game but they then changed to Rocks@Eagles.

I'm a huge fan of Crandall but don't admire the way he allows teams to get underneath his skin. However, I think most of his complaints (and Rob's) were fully justified last night. But we shall see what happens at 4pm tomorrow. Ironically, the attack on Rob seemed to galvanise our players and spurred us on to a solid victory by a decent margin.

Feels to me like a slight sense of here are the golden boys of the league, the special ones, the guys who are head boy material with neat short back and sides haircuts who think they're better than everyone. So how dare anyone stand up to them and say, we don't care about any of that - we're here to drag you into the trenches and see how you can handle a bit of rough and ready. I'll bet the actual players didn't mind but maybe some fans think they are too 'golden' to have to deal with a bit of aggression? 🤔
