Just so there's no bias IRF
Who replaces Rob when he goes to the next level?
Is it an assistant coach or an undersized point guard from Birmingham?

Whether there's a 4yr contract or not, a sufficient bung would be enough to move him on methinks.

I Agree with Solly,as far as the BBL is concerned I can't see Rob going anywhere other then Leicester. Similar to Fab I imagine he practically has tenure with the Riders. Although he signed the contract for 4 years which has gives him great job security. If the right opportunity comes along like it did for Fab with the NBA or a really good Europe outfit comes knocking then he may be tempted away. And let's be honest if Rob was called to the NBA coaching surely the Leicester organisation would let him go.

I’m sure he could be tempted by the eagles job actually

I've composed myself to answer
Hes irreplaceable
Based on knowing how the BBL works, budgeting a squad, recruiting players who actually want to come to BBL, knowing the way refs follow rules over here, knowing limitations on what you can do, experience of UK Basketball etc etc etc
He's not just got lucky with a squad of players to win a league. Hes shown he can build squads again and again from fresh to do the same thing
I doubt there's a coach in the world who could replace him without facing issues tbh
Obviously there are top coaches in USA all will have great talent and nous in many areas ahead of Rob
But being an NBA coach with their budgets and resources and staffing levels etc is an entirely different ballgame than a BBL coach with all the limiting factors
Those top NBA coaches probably have 20 support staff working beneath them earning as much or more than Rob earns in BBL!!
As I've said before I rate Matt Newby highly and I'm sure he would be a success at Riders
But nobody could replace Rob
He's slowly but surely proving to be best coach ever to grace BBL IMO
Don't care what others have moved onto
Rob is creating a real legacy by staying in BBL
You don't have to like him
But you have to respect the work ethic and the way he just builds and repeats, builds and repeats
He's a machine

I think he'd need 8-10 more years to be the best ever in the bbl, especially if you factor in his recent decline

I think a distinction has to be made between the best BBL coach and the best coach to ever be in the BBL.
He probably is the best BBL coach, the way he knows the league, builds teams etc. But Nick Nurse won the NBA Championship, Chris Finch has turned around a terrible Wolves franchise in less than a year. Both are currently in an entirely different league (literally) to Rob P.
This is indisputable.

When considering if a coach moves on, it's important to consider factors outside the game. Is a coach and his wife settled in an area, do they have family links to the area, does the coach have a young family in school?
The longer someone stays with a side, and establishes a life in a location, the harder it is to move, and to disrupt his family life.
Having coached at Riders for over 12 years, it is going to take a massive contract elsewhere for Rob to move, especially as, based on performance, the Riders job is his for however long he wants to stay there.

And both would find being back in BBL to be an entirely different challenge Of course they are on a different level But I would rather have Rob as our coach than either of them As long as he's our coach we will max out in BBL Simple as that If it's not broke it doesn't need fixing I don't believe either of those guys could do any better in BBL with Rides than Rob does And there's a risk they could do worse Let alone the fact Rob does what he does for Riders on a BBL salary not an NBA salary

I think he'd need 8-10 more years to be the best ever in the bbl, especially if you factor in his recent decline We are about to win the league with another new squad he's built by potentially the biggest margin the League has ever been won by You can't exactly call that a recent decline? It's just cementing his legacy

I know I'm a Nick Nurse homer but I would also add that he won with multiple different teams and budgets. He proved he could arrive at a new team and turn them into winners, usually very quickly, regardless of who it is or what their history was like. Although I do think there has to be credit given for staying with one team long-term, especially when there is success along the way. But it's a different kind of recognition.

Count the trophies fellas, you're winning less as time goes on.
I'm not saying he's rubbish, I'd love if my club only won 2 awards (I'd love if my club existed also) but you can't deny 2 trophies is less than 3. Rob used to win 3 trophies now with apparently the best squad ever he can only win 2. Its a decline
