Nothing was ever said about tje salary cap before 777 either though, it's always been hush hush so nobody knows how badly they're screwing the players.

Could it be that legacy contracts are exempt from salary cap?

Wikipedia SLB advises £500k cap if you think that the cap should be higher at £750K or you think lower at £400k - just post in here and will get Wikipedia updated to that

Some delicious irony in a guy who criticised anyone against 777 and rambled about clubs working against the lions comes out of retirement to play in a league which those ‘dinosaurs’ created Not to mention signing for London Lions (again) after calling them a joke of a basketball team, although I believe his comments at the time were aimed more towards Vince than anyone else (and yes, I know this is the second time he's signed for Lions since making those comments). I'm not sure how I feel about the guy personally, but he's usually great on the court, just hoping that's still the case coming out of retirement. Also, with big hitters Ovie Soko and Jordan Taylor signed that's going to push London substantially towards the salary cap... the only way I can see Sam Dekker playing for them next season is if he's somehow totally exempt form the salary budget - which is unlikely. So what do we think... London have confirmed they'll honour his (rumoured £1.4M a year) deal, and he's already back in London practicing... Maybe loan him out to recover some of the cost? Keep him short of in-house at Zalgiris perhaps? I doubt Sam Decker is coming back, last time I checked I thought he was trying out for the NBA. Soko coming back though is a suprise which is going to be fun for Eagles fans when they start giving him and London stick this season at the VMA. Although Lions might not be stacked last season they still look like they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Whichever way you look at it Rai and Soko is one hell of a duo as a 3/4. Both have had MVP calibre seasons recently. Given London's lack of imports other than Jordan Taylor it'll be whether the rest of the young Brits are good enough to carry the team. Jordan Taylor could also take on a far more offensive role given we've only seen it in bursts as required when London were stacked.

Per Hoopsfix:
'Salary cap' is set at £400k net, excludes highest paid British player.
Kevin Routledge says it's not a salary cap but a luxury tax - fines for going over.
Steve Timoney also mentioned a salary floor.
They're still working on it - will likely feature further amendments.

The fact that implementing a bottom salary is really important in the development of British players

I like the salary cap at £400k. Obviously I would prefer it if we could afford more, but on that you can have 6 professionals on £50k, and 6 young fellas on £20k. I'm being simplistic here but the point is professional basketball in the UK is a vocation but people need to be able to live and support a family. In London and Surrey that gets a bit tough though where the cost of living is higher.

Highly doubt so else the import rule would be probably be used as well in that case. I imagine that 400k is just salary too and not value of their contract, housing cars and sponsorship deals won't count either

having a net is only way can be fair across the SLB when there are different paye tax rates in Scotland versus England. players on the same net salary in Scotland and England at certain pay points will mean a higher gross figure reported at Glads versus other teams
