Lions have released Kareem Queeley to recover from his injury.
Lions have also signed Alen Hadzibegovic, Montenegran forward who played for Lietkbelis last year in the Lithuanian league & EuroCup.

What’s going on with Sam Dekker?….last I heard his contract was going to be honoured by the Lions new owners but it was reported he may have be sent out on loan but with season underway across Europe he doesn’t seem to be playing, is he injured or is there some form of gardening leave as part of a contract settlement going on

Sharks rookie big Mitchell gone to g-league He was “too good” for this league. Borderline NBA quality. Shame.

You wonder who these players use as an agent or manager - if you can make the G league then surely the next level down from that while you wait for an offer would be somewhere offering a decent 6 figure salary - China, parts of Europe, Turkey, etc etc. How do you end up grabbing a SBL contract for what was surely considerably less if you were on the cusp of the G league? I find the whole hierarchy and structure of basketball contracts quite baffling! Ok I get he may not have wanted to go to certain countries even for more money, but there must have been several leagues out there in the world he could have got a more lucrative deal in than over here. Maybe he was advised that by playing here he'd look like a star and get a great deal for next year, rather than looking like just another player by playing in a better league?

Yep it's a weird one. Having said that the base salary in g league is apparently $40,500 so the money may have been less of a factor. Wonder if homesickness came into it? Regardless, a loss for the Sharks and the league.

Tbf this lad was a rookie so was maybe a little naive as to his quality and opportunities etc.
Also, I honestly think he could’ve been told he has a shot at least of becoming a 2 way NBA player.

Do Shark get any kind of compensation or is it just a case of being released?

That's really low for the G-league although I imagine that salary is for the fringe players, the end of bench guys who might not last long. Like the equivalent of the 10 day contract players in the NBA. This guy sounds like he has a chance to even make the NBA so you'd think his G league deal would be considerably higher.
I doubt the Sharks would get compensation but they may have agreed something to release him from his contract. The problem is how do you stop him leaving and returning to the US, and how are you going to follow up with any legal action about it anyway? You can't exactly take the guy to court when he's in another country and I don't think they can go after the G-league as it's the individual breaching the contract not the new employer.

G league notoriously pays low money, a 10 contract is usually worth the same as a year, the g league also isn’t a good league. The players that play are nba 2 ways or jump up and down, this guy is unlikely to be a star g league player.
Why Britain will probably be a variety of reasons. Many higher level clubs wouldn’t release him, speak English or would perhaps have a much worse schedule for training and games.

Yeah I am surprised G league doesn't pay more but I think their season is quite short, only about 6 months? So maybe guys can go elsewhere for the rest of the year, who knows. Most of them don't get called up to their NBA team, it's only a small percentage that do but the irony is if a guy gets 10 day contract in the NBA the pay is at least $66,500 and averages about 100k. For 10 days! Then it can often be back down to the G league and slumming it again, must be quite tough to do that but at least they got a big pay day out of it.

I'm a little surprised he's not being utilised, even temporarily, at Žalgiris. Meanwhile I saw his wife some reporting for Sky Sports at the NFL London game last weekend.

A little surprised with this and if am honest a bit meh about this. Can see why, but he rocked the boat quite a bit last time, was a pain to manage and turned his back on the Nic for the money at Eagles….. And was a total d1ck to Nic fans when he came back to EPSV with Newcastle

I don't think Ben would bring someone back if he thought that was the case too. I'm actually pleased with this, he is a straight swap for Clemons who is another PG who likes to drive to the basket, however Larry is much better at it.

Probably not a surprise - a point guard roster change at Newcastle. Jaelin Llewelyn has been cut and replaced by Jared Bynum, a 5’10 rookie PG who went to the Sweet Sixteen with Providence (and Al Durham) before playing his final year for Stanford. My general rule of thumb is that teams almost always lose when blooding a new recruit in mid-season, so I guess that’s good news for Sheffield tonight……
