My goodness, Todd and Azania are an awful pairing. It's almost impressive to have such a low approval rating, haven't seen one positive comment.
They shouldn't even be on any BBL game at all, nevermind having the privilege of commentating on the showpiece events. Radin needs his head looking for what he's doing to the league. Pathetic.
So much fun to see their beloved Lions gets smashed today. Great job Cheshire, you had the whole of British basketball behind you today. Apart from ten London fans!

Dave Forrester yesterday was saying the MC on site wasn't much better. Apparently Lions v Gladiators sounded more like Globetrotters v Generals...

Very well played to Cheshire, completely dominated us it felt. Lions couldn't get in a rhythm all weekend.
The better team won yesterday.
At least it shows Lions can be beaten, this will make the playoffs a lot more interesting!

One of the downsides of this televised coverage was the commentators - both are really poor but the guy is by far the worse. Got all sorts of simple facts wrong and seemed to have no real knowledge of the BBL. I didn't watch all of the basketball this weekend, I dipped in and out, but the most noticeable thing for me was the terrible commentary. For people who have so little of value to share they never shut up even for a second. Sky Sports YouTube channel did 7 live streams this weekend, all basketball and netball. As it stands, 4 hours after the end of the stream, the number of views for the final is 11k. Only one live stream has fewer views, the WBBL Trophy final with 5k views. No doubt that number will increase as people at the game rewatch it. I don't think 11k is very good. I can't help but think some people will have put it on then turned it off after a few minutes of listening to them wittering. The Trophy final on YouTube still has only 12k views. I think that's really poor. England Hockey (field hockey) YouTube channel streamed the English indoor hockey finals from Derby Arena on Sunday and that got 17k views. Uganda Vs New Zealand netball match streamed from the First Direct Leeds Arena got 15k views. England Vs Australia got 36k despite the game being a one-sided miserable loss for England. British basketball is still behind other minor team sports.

Apologies, only just got home tonight and the hotel WiFi wasn't great. Blown away by the whole event from an outstanding Cheshire Phoenix team showing just how British basketball can be played. Underdogs? What a load of b***ocks! Was very pleased to win the semi final against a vastly improved Riders ( who still haven't won against us yet). Great bunch of true supporters but the final was something else. To be honest I wasn't expecting a win hoping to run them close for as long as possible. A very poor performance from Lions, couldn't believe Matt Morgan only 4 points and the strange line ups that they played at times. But who cares, amazing team performance with everyone playing their part, the loss of Ethan Chargois last week gave more time for the others in the squad to show what they could do. Ready now to watch all the games again, reading this thread I'll probably watch it with the sound turned off.
AND what a wonderful experience being in the middle of a big Orange group of arguably the best, most enthusiastic supporters of the BBL

You won't believe how bad it is. Extremely London centric, especially in the women's game. Todd and Azania should never commentate together again. Todd doesn't seem to know the rules, and continually talks about American colleges. Azania talks about her retirement, and how great Lions are (men and women). At one point, they refered to a Leicester player as "the bald, Canadian point guard". I wish I was joking.

Interesting analysis of the final(s) in this weeks Sunday Night BreakdownâŚwould be interesting to hear what the ÂŁions fans have to say. Ok, hereâs my take⌠I completely agree with Dave F in that London approached this Final Four all wrong (in contrast to Cheshire who approached it perfectly). I also completely agree that it at least appears something is not right within the London camp. I mean, how can we go from that exceptional EuroCup performance on Wednesday night to what we saw on Saturday and Sunday? From Bozic behaving in a way never seen before â from his temper to his rotations, to the likes of Matt Morgan significantly underperforming, to Jordan Taylor losing his cool like Iâve not seen before, etc. What happened between Wednesday night and Saturday/Sunday? Something just felt⌠off. Interesting point Dave F made about playing like a team who had missed a paycheque. Anyone know if London pay their employees on the last Friday of the month?! Iâm very curious to see how London play in the EuroCup tomorrow night. Iâve congratulated them before, and Iâll say it again, none of this should take anything away from Cheshire. They played the Final Four weekend perfectly and are fully deserving winners.

I can admire their enthusiasm but they have failed to attract new fans (other than London, I think they have attracted more fans in London), and they are annoying existing fans.

Interesting point Dave F made about playing like a team who had missed a paycheque. Anyone know if London pay their employees on the last Friday of the month?! Hmmmmmmm, now there's a thought. Although he did say without any knowledge of anything, with his "day job" why say that? He made it very clear he was saying they played like a team who had missed a paycheque, not that he was saying he thought they had missed a paycheque. As you say, he knows how he needs to say certain things. All of these podcasts have interesting dynamics. âThe BBL Showâ was good, but being endorsed by the league they were never too critical of anything. Now that itâs the âDrew & Jay Podcastâ itâs a little less restricted, but still stays away from anything controversial. The âBelow the Rimâ podcast loves to hate on 777 and London Lions at any given opportunity, so much so I donât listen anymore. And then thereâs âSunday Night Breakdownâ, where you have company man (and all round nice guy) Dan Routledge alongside free speaking Dave Forester. Itâs great how Dan lets Dave say what he wants to say without directly commenting himself. But it must be quite a difficult role at times, hosting a show with someone who openly criticises (one of) your employers and colleagues. Case in point â Dave made it absolutely clear how awful he though Todd and Azania were on commentary this weekend via social media, but on the podcast he made nothing more than a few subtle remarks. I suspect Dan asked him before the show not to criticise Todd and Azania on the podcast, and to be honest I can totally understand him doing that.

Dan is an absolute spot on bloke.
Iâm amazed given his Dadâs involvement how professional he is.
