Delighted for Nix fans. Their team obliterated Lions and I really didn't expect them to defeat them so comprehensively. Congratulations!

They beat Leicester. They beat a fully invested London. I’ve got to say it, Cheshire deserve to be 2024 Trophy Champions. Well done to them.

Rideau deservedly the MVP. Fantastic two games from him. This will definitely mean certain teams will gain self belief that they can win the playoff trophy. £ions are vulnerable in cup competitions.

Pleased for Coach Thomas. He's recruited really well and forged a hugely impressive team who clearly play for each other. I think if Lions had won it would have been so depressing for most BBL fans but this result gives the other teams some hope.

Well it looks like Weetanix won't be making it to work tommorow! And it seems like having loads of money doesn't buy you every Trophy in this league.
I'm sure Lions will comeback with the excuse of concentrating on Europe but to be honest in that 2nd half Cheshire fully deserved that win as Lions were really poor, lacked disciplined and their were some questionable choices.
Meanwhile Nix played smart, played fearless and took advantage. And although I could have given MVP to a few of there guys I honestly think Rideau was a very well deserving MVP.
Although Lions have been beaten before I think this was the first meaningful loss inflicting on so I would say the rest of the league should be taking note. Games like this also makes me question why Ben Thomas isn't coach of the North in the All Star game?
Overall I have enjoyed this final 4 weekend and I think what has been proven is Lions aren't completely unbeatable and aren't good in competive back to back games.
Although given how we have to play the Lions next I think it's unfortunate their going to be thrashing their frustrations out on our short handed team. That being said I look forward to seeing how much mockery us supporters give them when we start asking Lions "Where's your Trophy?" And "He couldn't do that shot last week when it mattered?"
Well done Cheshire Phoenix. You did yourselves and the rest of the league proud today! 👏 🥳

If London are still competing in Eurocup playoffs around the same time as the BBL playoffs then maybe. If not then I can’t see past London. A fully rested, healthy London team beats any BBL team. London have played 46 games this season to date, Cheshire have played 25. It showed this weekend. London emptied the tank against Besiktas midweek. If London played Leicester in yesterday’s semi I don’t think they would have made the final. That being said Cheshire are definitely the 2nd best team in the league right now and Ben Thomas has recruited a great squad. Fair play to whoever is in charge of player recruitment at Nix, because they have had some studs over recent years (Parker Jackson Cartwright) and Rideu is another one! Hell of a player at both ends of the floor.

Every one else has around 10-15 players to pick from and if one is injured….tough get on with it.

That's why I couldn't understand why they were playing Nwaba if he wasn't healthy when you had a squad full of guys who were in far better shape? For having a deep roster and a good coach it seemed like a silly move especially in a final. And not only that they kept having him play after he picked up a knock as well towards the end of the 2nd Quarter. Whilst I would sympathise with a team struggling with injuries for Lions I honestly don't since they have a roster deep enough and enough resources to still win and should have found a way to win.

Ok their overall talent pool is at a higher level, but you’re saying they have 30+ plus to choose from. They don’t. They like the other teams you mention have a squad of 10-15.

Brilliant display by Cheshire Nix squad and Ben Thomas - congratulations on a well deserved win. Went into the amphitheatre and showed Glads they wanted the Trophy back and rolled through the group stages Then went into the final 4 with belief and showed they know how to beat anybody in the league. Well done and well deserved.
(P.S. Still not sure how Ben was not the North coach for all-star game, this afternoon just re-emphasised that)

Well done Cheshire! Good for the rest of us to see a team asides from London win with the way things are for now.
The coverage was nauseating all weekend long, any outsider checking on from one of the various broadcast deals they've got across the pond would think London was the only team playing. It's a fallacy to consider Cheshire "underdogs" in the slightest, they're got tournament final pedigree and a very good setup. The Lions' social media is a joke as what saintpat has said several times before, no planning or just horribly unprofessional posts being made. The commentary was unbelievably lop-sided, there's such a love-in with London whenever they're playing and it really needs to stop, it just further emboldens who's the proverbial mouth that feeds the Lions.
Let's be honest, one of these teams in the final will still be around in 5 years time, the other will have gone down the Mersey Tigers route. I'm sick to death of seeing a league that I used to love being turned into a Lions Love Machine.
Well done Cheshire, you fully deserve it and good on you all. The coach, the fans, the players and everyone who makes the club function like a well oiled machine!

. (P.S. Still not sure how Ben was not the North coach for all-star game, this afternoon just re-emphasised that) Because the Gladitors are ahead of the Phoenix in the league, albeit having played an extra game. So Gareth’s is the highest placed ‘Northern’ Coach. Ben certainly deserves it more though.

I know their 2nd in the league but I wonder if Nix beating Lions will put any pressure on coach Murray for not being able to do the same yesterday despite a 15 point lead. I mean the owner for Gladiators seems like a no nonsense man and some fans were calling for Murray to go afew weeks ago. Although I think unless Gladiators scrape the playoffs it will be tough to justify getting rid of him.

One of the downsides of this televised coverage was the commentators - both are really poor but the guy is by far the worse. Got all sorts of simple facts wrong and seemed to have no real knowledge of the BBL.

For a set of owners what have stayed a lot about ‘content’, the engagement on London Lions Twitter / x is dreadful. Five links for their morning tweet going into the two finals - I bet no other club participating in the Euro Cup has numbers as low as that

One of the downsides of this televised coverage was the commentators - both are really poor but the guy is by far the worse. Got all sorts of simple facts wrong and seemed to have no real knowledge of the BBL. I didn't watch all of the basketball this weekend, I dipped in and out, but the most noticeable thing for me was the terrible commentary. For people who have so little of value to share they never shut up even for a second. Sky Sports YouTube channel did 7 live streams this weekend, all basketball and netball. As it stands, 4 hours after the end of the stream, the number of views for the final is 11k. Only one live stream has fewer views, the WBBL Trophy final with 5k views. No doubt that number will increase as people at the game rewatch it. I don't think 11k is very good. I can't help but think some people will have put it on then turned it off after a few minutes of listening to them wittering.

They have scored an own goal with not using Dan and ant Yes absolutely. They could even have had them rotating like they do with test cricket, considering it was quite a long weekend. I also had a thought it could have been streamed twice at the same time; one with the commentators they used which is for the benefit of USA and London presumably; and another one using Dan and Ant for British basketball fans. It would be interesting to compare to see what was more popular. S4C do that for rugby. The English commentary gets about x10 the number of views than the Welsh commentary.
