Loved the game, a fantastic advert for British Ball. 100 mph stuff from both teams and some amazing finishes. Congratulations to Riders for a well deserved win. Downsides, 25 fouls, 25% 3 point shooting and 68$ free throw shooting is not going to win many games. Not a fan of the later tip off times. Coupled with the quite ridiculous TV timeouts makes for a very late finish.

Well well well From a shambles just a couple of games ago to beating Flyers and now Eagles away We all know Rob improves teams on a monthly basis He's done it at record pace this season Lazy recruitment not proving the answer for Eagles it seems This should have been Eagles best chance to beat Riders. Experienced proven BBL players against rookies still learning how the refs work and how the game is played over here Where does Steutel go from here? Can he improve the experienced BBL players that on paper looked like a strong squad or have we already seen the best of them? Pressures on Eagles again. Didn't expect it so soon though It didnt take long mate, did it? You're getting too predictable.

spacejammer Hall of Famer ***** Sep 16, 2023 at 1:22pm "I know it's only first game of the season but I predicted Leicester were going to have a rebuild year and not set the world a light this season.
After this I'm wondering if their going to have a similar season to what the Eagles had 2 seasons ago where nothing seemed work at all and missed the playoffs?"
Maybe not Spacejammer?

Didn't expect it so soon though It was a pretty even game, Riders have a far better and more experienced coach and killed the game with two 3s in quick succession right at the end. Eagles played in Europe in midweek, not that Riders would know anything about that. You love making out that Eagles are constantly in crisis. Worry about your own club.

Well I hold my hands up and might aswell have egg on my face as this was a disaster tonight. Leicester deserved the win no doubt although not to rain on their parade but I still didn't think much of the Riders and thought this was one of the poorest Riders team I had seen for awhile and I can see why Cheshire beat them and Plymouth pushed them. They were just as sloppy tonight and made enforced errors just as much as us. Although saying that makes me wonder what does that mean for us? The other night we went from losing a 19 point lead to basically trying to play to many fancy shots/plays then losing it down the stretch. With 5 minutes to go in the 4th I pretty much felt Leicester were going to pull this one out even when we got close. Johnson seems to be a bright spark for us and Delpeche I feel is starting to improve and come into him own a bit more compared to the first 2 games. Although the rest of the team I have questions. Sure individually they play good but as a team I we still haven't quite got it together yet. With it being so early in the season ad alot of the teams yet to face I'm going to try not to panic just yet. Although with this being our 3rd straight loss right now I think question marks are starting to appear and Stetuel is going to desperately need a win this Sunday at Sheffield. Otherwise people are going to seriously start question where this season and his position at helm as to if he is the right man for the job? As much as it kills me to say this well done Leicester Riders

Wouldn't say Eagles are in crisis by any means but they have a team of excellent, experienced professional players. You might reasonably expect that they'd beat a team full of rookies, especially as they were at home. Riders led for most of the game and saw out the victory comfortably in the end. It wasn't easy at all but it felt as if we had enough in the tank to cope. Leicester weren't the finished article by a long way. Scope for improving defence plus eradicating careless passing errors. Nonetheless, the team is steadily improving with each game and there aren't many weak links imo. When selecting the MVP there were several contenders besides Thomas. And it was all achieved without Walker.

At the moment since we haven't played most the teams in the league I still have faith we will make the playoffs. But I'm hoping we will be able to sort things out and after the game against Sheffield we are able to re group before we played Leicester next. We haven't seen what Scott Spencer can do just yet so I am wondering if he will be a difference maker when he recovers from injury. Although tonight Defoe had a bit of a stinker fouling out on just 2 points. And I wondered why on earth were we going to Defoe when surely Neighbour should be our 2nd bigman? Neighbour barely featured in the game at all tonight and it doesn't seem like Steutel is giving him many minutes at the moment which I'm wondering why?

A complete stinker from the Eagles who lost a game they could easily have won for the third time on the trot. Makes Sunday’s game in the new Sheffield Arena even more important.
Eagles don’t seem to have developed a coherent half court offence yet and are relying too much on hero ball. Part of the issue is that no reliable high %age shooter who can really spread the court has emerged yet - if Spencer ever gets fit he may or may not be that guy, but that’s what they need to create space for the driving guards and the bigs.
Leicester unrecognisable from their first night breakdown - well coached and a really promising group with plenty of upside.

Didn't expect it so soon though You're spot on. Rob has done an amazing job with that group of young players. Talks to them in a calm, methodical manner and they're doing (mostly!) what's asked of them. One thing I would disagree with is recruitment being an issue for Eagles. This roster is wasted on Steutel and Co. The upcoming list of fixtures looks a bit scary for Eagles. They could be right in a hole by the end of October. Hope I'm wrong.

I watched Bristol against Sheffield, thought they were as bad as each other which actually made it a good game.

Neighbour looked like a lost soul in those last time outs, not fitting into any plans at all. Having Austin Jr. taking the corner 3 shots???

It looks like they actually ran a play at the end to get Larry shooting an open wing three. Really poor end of game execution AGAIN, for the third game in a row. No one looks like they have a clue what they're doing, desperate stuff.

At times it looked like we were having auditions to find our next 3 point shooter last night. And the one guy who proved he can make the odd 3 was once again sat on the bench most the game? I can't belive I'm saying this but if we need a 3 point man we should sign Ben Mockford back.

I can't belive I'm saying this but if we need a 3 point man we should sign Ben Mockford back. Season to date - Whitfield & Johnson both shooting over 40% from behind the arc - the problem is (a) that nobody else is shooting over 25% (incl Neighbour) and (b) the half court offence is so poor that we’re not getting the good shooters free for their shot. Given an efficient offence, Neighbour should also be shooting 40% with these guards, but no sign of that so far. Scott Spencer is rumoured to be a shooter, but hasn’t played a minute yet…….. But the point is well made, because the Austin & McGill in particular need space in the paint & that ain’t happening if teams can just pack the interior with no outside threat.

He was good at Cheshire from what I saw. His 3 point stats were quite good. But I don't think he's very versatile. With his size he should be able to play as a centre but he doesn't for some reason. This really isn't working out for him or for Eagles.

But right now unless Stetuel uses him more effectively then it wouldn't suprise me if Neighbour was to go. The fact we don't have a proflic 3 point shooter is a concern. And if Scott Spencer is it then it shows we haven't prepared for injuries well as well
