I didn't hear it get mentioned on the radio but I wouldn't really expect it. We already know this season is a one off. 777 Partners won't be funding the women's team to this extent next season. Plus public interest in this will be very small.

Sorry I didn't want to sound negative, just realistic. The Great British sporting public are not really ready for a professional women's basketball team, but the London Lions Ladies journey these last couple of seasons has been fantastic for everyone involved and for those people with an interest in women's basketball in this country.

Wow. What a first half so far from London. Playing like this they will win the whole thing. What a joy to watch.

London win by 12 and progress to the Eurocup Semi Finals!! Either Paris or Badalona await in a best of 3 series! Incredible. Probably the best game of basketball I have witnessed a British team be apart of. Lions up by 20 at one point but Cluj wouldn’t die! Their fans were phenomenal.
It’s moments like this that make me prey that 777 hang around and British basketball can be apart of these type of nights for the foreseeable.
What a setup Cluj have though. 10,000 fans in a sold out arena that did not stop supporting their team all the way through. Not sure how big basketball is in Romania but just wow.
Hard to see past Paris, however Badalona have been playing great basketball this side of Christmas after making a number of changes.

It would be so easy to mock this artificially created success given the money that has been spent but you need to give the players credit for putting in the effort to get the job done.
I may personally be a lone voice who doesn't like how fake it comes across, because without 777 there would be no success in Europe.

A fantastic success. First British women’s team in a European final. First British men’s team in the final four of a European competition.
It’s just such a shame there’s 2 sides to this story. The obvious success this all is for British basketball, but also the widely reported fact there’ll be no women’s team in Europe next season and the less reported fact the future of the entire organisation is questionable.
But for now let’s all enjoy it, and hope that something good - whatever exactly that might be, still comes from this adventure one way or another.

At least it's getting British basketball in the press a little bit. Most casual fans won't know about what is going on - they'll just see the headline and think "oh, basketball must be improving in this country then" and that has to be a good thing. Plus, are the Lions players that much better than those on the teams they are competing with? I bet a lot of those teams have big budgets and expensive players too. You still have to go out and play to a high level to advance in a tournament like this one, and play as a team.

Their professional league, Liga Națională, has 18 teams. Newcastle lost to Romanian team Voluntari in December. Cluj is easily the biggest Romanian basketball team. CS Universitatea Cluj-Napoca was founded in 1919. I believe the professional football team, the professional basketball team and the sports club are 3 separate entities now but with a shared identity and logo. As with most countries in Europe football is the most popular sport. The next most popular team sports are basketball, handball and volleyball. So for a British team to beat Romania's best team is very impressive.

For those only loosely following, the 'best of 3' Semi-Final will be London Lions v Paris Basketball w/c 25/03 and (if needed) w/c 01/04.

It will be nice to see a best of three playoff at last and a good little preview of what is to come for the BBL playoff competition.
Will it be the same format for the Finals as well?

Think this will be a lot closer than people think, Lions were unlucky to loose in OT against Paris in the home league of the regular season and picked up a few injuries in the away game on Boxing Day, can see a 3rd game in this series, London seemed to have turned the dial up in their play off games who ever wins this wins the cup in my view

If 777's financial situation is so bad will winning the mens and possibly the Women's Euro Cup possibly be the life line to helping steady the ship or convince them to reconsider pulling the ladies team out of Europe? Have a feeling if either or both of these events happening the prize money might possibly go towards buying a certain Scouse football club?

I can't believe that the deal to buy Everton is still on the cards. Surely the fact that the bid has been scrutinised by the Premier League since the start of the season almost 8 months ago is a hint that its not going to happen.

I will be very surprised if it gets approved but we won't have to wait long. The Premier League will make their decision next week. This should be a very easy decision for them.
