It sounds like they're doing this on the cheap. Let's see what it looks like.

I'm going to call it now. This will be a step down in broadcasting quality. Last season we were spoilt.

Thanks for that, where did you find it? Statcast page on BBL site has no links. Crowd building nicely at the Vertu. 😀

Only first quarter but not impressed. Dan r must be cringing if he is watching. Do they know who's playing for each side?

Eagles very sloppy. Not much of a match report but sadly it's true.

There were a couple of incidents I want to see again though. Only down by 5 and Sharks racking up the fouls, all to play for.

39 free throws for Eagles! Unless you're useless from the stripe you're going to win when the opponents give away so many fouls. However, 19 turnovers is profligate.

Missed Fletcher. He was worth the ticket money alone.

RIP Dan. He was sorely missed. The guy's a legend for a reason - simply the best. My overriding memory from the commentary is...that it didn't enhance my appreciation of the game.

My takes from the game. New cast are poor commentary team a downgrade and in the studio Ovi stuttered away at times and seemed to lack confidence. Studio saved by coach rob who as usual was excellent. As for the teams sharks better than I envisaged and have some offence to work with this year which should see them Into playoffs. Eagles were worse than I expected. Ricky McGill was terrible forcing things throughout. Eagles look to lack a genuine shooter which might hurt them. Good to have it back

RIP Dan? Have I missed something?
A win is a win but a win against Sharks is always welcome. Feisty at times, Sharks were lucky not to have someone foul out. I'll watch the game back before commenting further.
Top of the league though 🤣🤣🤣

Well for first game of the season I will take that. I'll admit we are definatley a work in progress and I underestimated the Sharks but to be honest I left the arena quite happy tonight.
In the first half I was worried as we were playing defence but seemed to be lacking confidence to begin with. However in the 2nd half once we got going we put Sheffield away. Although if we're looking for a new player I definitely think we need a proflic 3 point shooter as I feel we're lacking an outside attacker.
As for the officials tonight and the game itself I felt the officials were quite lienent on the Technical side as I thought both teams got away with quite a bit especially at the start of the game. But overall I thought they officiated a good game.
Although if their was supposed to be VAR where on earth was it? Their was some replays on the big screens which was new and a cool feature but I guess the officials won't be expected to run up a flight of stairs past a tense crowd of fans everytime.
As for the TV coverage I'm going to probably watch the game back over the weekend. However their was a timeout in the 3rd Quarter immediately after a timeout that did baffle me and thought was highly unnecessary especially when we started to build momentum. I hope the BBL scraps this if that was the case as I thought it was stupid.
Other then that great win for the Eagles and for a Thursday night not a bad crowd. For now I will take the win and not a bad start however I hope we can build some momentum up in the next few games before we welcome the Lions, Riders and the European teams in Toon.

Good to have it back Neighbour is their best outside shooter. They just need to find a way to get the ball to him more. His two 3 pointers made a difference but he should be attempting more than two shots in a game. The commentary, presenting and production is step down and it does look kind of cheap but it's ok. The extra time did mean I didn't get the last few minutes recorded. This used to happen with EuroCup games on BT Sport. I just don't think British broadcasters fully appreciate how drawn out basketball can be.

Eagles were there for the taking tonight, very disjointed and completely disorganised on defence. Strange after looking quite coherent in preseason. Individual moments of talent seen them through in the end fortunately, as we've seen Sharks can beat anyone (including Lions) in a low scoring game like that one.
