My takes from the game. New cast are poor commentary team a downgrade and in the studio Ovi stuttered away at times and seemed to lack confidence. Studio saved by coach rob who as usual was excellent. As for the teams sharks better than I envisaged and have some offence to work with this year which should see them Into playoffs. Eagles were worse than I expected. Ricky McGill was terrible forcing things throughout. Eagles look to lack a genuine shooter which might hurt them. Good to have it back Neighbour is their best outside shooter. They just need to find a way to get the ball to him more. His two 3 pointers made a difference but he should be attempting more than two shots in a game. The commentary, presenting and production is step down and it does look kind of cheap but it's ok. The extra time did mean I didn't get the last few minutes recorded. This used to happen with EuroCup games on BT Sport. I just don't think British broadcasters fully appreciate how drawn out basketball can be. You never missed anything in the post game studio stuff - clearly the britishbasketballleage media team did not realise it might run long as dead on 2hr 30min we lost the studio and got a vertical bars screen telling us it was BT TOWER HD/3G SDI Channel 2 Sounds like someone only booked the feed for 2hr 30min sticking to the game - where was IRS so refs could check their iffy moments and more important so coaches could have coaches challenge and prevent a potential game changing swing from a bad call |

And I like how we shared the points out tonight unlike the past 2 seasons where we played thorough 1 or 2 players like we did with Hamlet and French last year. On another note I just had a look at the play by play for the stats and in the 3rd Quarter at 5:03 it says commercial timeout! I dont know what the BBL was thinking although they need to cut that crap out as I'm worried it will unnecessarily impact games and shouldnt be implemented. Tonight fortunately it didn't hinder the Eagles when they were gaining momentum but in other games I think its going to frustrate alot of teams. Equally if your the team on the other end like Sheffield it could be a blessing. But overall I'm not a fan and could see this leading to complaints from both teams and fans in the future. Also for the Eagles arena team if their going to do a commercial timeout it would have been courtseous to let the rest of the fans know what is going on. As myself and other fans were sat puzzled as to why a timeout had been called and who by. It was like someone was playing NBA 2K by accident and they had clicked the timeout button by mistake. |

dont worry - even tv didn't know it was a commercial timeout lol
when happened it was some chat then suddenly we were away to an advert and when returned the game was already underway, missed about 9 secs if i red the shot clock correct

Just re- watching the game…….
1. TV timeouts each quarter stink and (together with about 1000 free throws) ensured the game lasted forever.
2. The commentary needs sorting out. Neither Todd nor Azania (who should know better) seemed to have access to a single stat - so players would pick up their 3rd/ 4th fouls and it would go without comment. A definite step backwards compared with Dan Routledge.
As for the game, ugly and chippy. Eagles just about deserved it but both teams will need to improve a lot.

Meanwhile, Azania praising Stewart’s defence against Green but misses the arm in the back of Tajh’s head, whilst Talky Todd going big on Steutel’s technical foul but misses the fact that it was actually called against Larry Austin. Maybe difficult to spot this stuff if you aren’t in the arena……….. |

The next two games on Sky Sports are London Lions home games. I wonder if they will do something a bit more like the what they did last season, with commentators at the arena.

which they weren’t playing. In fact they played man to man the whole game.

The next two games on Sky Sports are London Lions home games. I wonder if they will do something a bit more like the what they did last season, with commentators at the arena. Despite both the games and the new BBL studio/broadcast centre being in London, that's not the plan. Timeline (the broadcast centre being utilised by the BBL) even has a location right next to the Copper Box - the old BT Sport HQ. But I believe the BBL are using Timeline's Ealing location. Either way, there are no plans for the presentation team to return to the arenas. |

Other than live game graphic, it was terrible. Always find the 'tube' games lose the atmosphere. It wasn't top content.
