I get it if it's a league game. Lions could throw another 3 or 4 games and it makes no difference. But why do that in the trophy? Playing chunks of the game...including the final 6 minutes...without any of your 10 best players on the court. It's almost like they were trying to lose so that they don't win all 4 and it makes the league look more competitive than it is. I'm not sure I believe that. But I can't get my head round it.

I watched the Gladiators game (and a little bit of the Leicester game). What a compelling game. Gladiators have done a great thing for all teams still in the competition. Chances of silverware are going to be few and far between for teams who aren’t London Lions. I really hope Gladiators make it to the final. That would make the final at the Emirates Arena a big event. I hope there’s some budget and strategy in place to really promote it in Scotland. Surely this makes the case to not scrap the BBL Trophy. Although I do think there’s a case for rearranging the season so we don’t get the Cup Final and BBL Trophy so close together.

Just got home from a night out… shocked by both those results.
I agree with the comments that’s it’s as if London weren’t even trying to win this game… no idea why, they’ve just thrown away their shot of doing the elusive clean sweep. Gutted. Now they’re just playing for their most successful season ever (3 titles) but that doesn’t have the same sense of achievement.
Congrats to Caledonia and Sheffield, both saw the opportunity and took it.

I'm now gutted the BBL didn't televised any of these games on Sky this weekend. Both these games would have been a cracker to have had televised particularly on a night where their was no premier league football and not much else on. Makes me wonder if they have a contract that states they cannot televise Cup or Trophy games except the Finals. It’s the BBL’s decision to only broadcast Championship games on Sky (apart from the Finals obviously). The contract is for ‘x’ games per season, and it’s the BBL’s decision to use that quota exclusively on championship games.

Sharks deserved their victory tonight. Strangled our 3 point shooting with excellent perimeter defence. We were 2 from 19 at one point. Missed Whelan of course but that's no excuse. Sharks were able to score inside with their forwards whereas Nelson-Henry had zero points. Unless Riders can manage to get better looks for 3 pointers then we'll be vulnerable to teams. Lions focussed on stopping our 3 pointers in the cup final and that proved effective. Looks like Atiba took note of that. So disappointing, especially as Lions were beaten at Glasgow. Bugger!

Interesting Lions rotations last night, especially in the last 5 minutes.
A crazy but compelling watch. Congratulations to Glasgow/ Cally.

Massive credit to the Sharks. Shown they can do it.
Why are we so wildly inconsistent?

Wow
Just shows you can't predict anything
BBL Trophy wide open now
Riders will be kicking themselves
But fair play to Sharks
According to Dan Routledge Gladiators points score is the lowest ever score to win a game in BBL history!!!
When I went on livestats and saw the gladiators score I honestly assumed there was a delay and it was only half time!!!

If they genuinely tried to lose then it's a disgrace and embarrassment to the sport and history of BBL The scoreline suggests they may well have done so?

I don’t think they were trying to lose, but I think it they play Best, Nelson and Sharma for the last 5 minutes they win that game. Maybe coach Schmidt didn’t want to give his reserve team this game to win, only to take it off them in the final minutes. This game probably provides the coaches with a lot of material to help develop these younger players.

I caught the last quarter I was shocked at the score and that 3 attempt at the end was giving me the fear.
I might not like the rebrand but I must give them credit where it is due.

Rob was not convinced about the "out of bounds" call on Love 40 seconds from the end, and said he would look at it.
When I looked in slo-mo on the Youtube stream, unfortunately one cannot see Love's left foot clearly, but the ref didn't call it until Love had driven into the key .... very ify late call IMO.

Still shocked at the Lions approach last night. Played their weakest 5 for long spells and even at the end with game in the mix didn’t bring in their better players. Made utterly no sense. Gladiators were very poor on the night infact probably poorest home game they have played this season. Wide open shots just weren’t dropping. Not just based on this game but Have to question if guys like Kaboza and komagun are good enough. I know they are young and will develop but it’s a huge gulf between them and even the mid range players. Would they not maybe develop more playing nbl

Those same teenagers beat pats last week. Cally are a decent team at home, think they show a lot of promise and going to progress to great players

I wonder how many games these teenagers have played this season. Lions could have done with some reserve team fixtures earlier in the season.

Ouch…. Riders were pretty lacklustre last night. Only played well in short spells. We just couldn’t pull away from those pesky Sharks. 3 point shooting was woeful plus the free throws were pretty questionable too.
With Lions falling short this was a massive chance for us to lift silverware. Congratulations to Sharks overall they just looked like they wanted that W more and fair play they got it.
It’s really anyone’s now for the taking.
