Sharks certainly beatable if Nix can reproduce any sort of form. Hopefully a fully fit squad which must rise above the terrible games that Sharks seem to reduce the opposition to.

Half time, at last Nix playing much better team basketball hitting open 3's. Much improved performance, all 10 of squad fit, playing and all scoring.

The Nix looked like the Warriors in comparison to the Sharks. We were low on confidence, low on talent, low on bench options, low on basketball IQ, low on communication and there were frequent breakdowns on offence and defence with players seemingly unaware of strategies, scouting reports or assignments. Nelson tried his hardest on his return from injury but we're in a worrying slump now with a lot of losses piled up. Back to the drawing board on the whole lot for me.

Sharks are in a bit of a rut and don’t appear to know how to get out of it. Think they need to shuffle the pack during their break in games and the coach should be one of the positions being considered for change.

Agreed, don't think any Sharks player had ever heard of Will Neighbour. They obviously equate 6'10" with an inside man who can't shoot from more than 10 foot away ( e.g. Delpeche and Koch). Nix got so many fast starts from missed shots, even successful ones had Nix attacking within seconds. That was just one difference, Nix were set up in defence evoke Sharks inbounded the bal After a difficult start the squad changes have meant finishing 2022 with a much better balanced team than September

What was the crowd attendance?
A club can be broken on court but doing ok off the court?

What was the crowd attendance? A club can be broken on court but doing ok off the court? It looked mostly full, which was good to see. A couple of games ago Ponds Forge looked half empty. Sheffield Sharks do seem to have a particularly old fan base, so attendances are probably disproportionately affected by the weather. When they move to their new bigger venue they will have a lot of work to do to attract new fans. It would certainly help if they could recruit an exciting player, but of course only if they can afford it.

People are still paying to watch There's no prize money for doing well in the league It does make you wonder what motivates some of the BBL club owners? Is it financial success/survival rather than on court success? That's not necessarily a criticism by the way.

I found this about Karen Child, Sheffield Sharks shareholder, who won £8.5m on the Lottery in 2007. She is exactly the sort of person you want to win the lottery. Karen was working as a checkout assistant at her local Tesco in Clowne, near Chesterfield when she scooped the Lotto jackpot prize in 2007. A single mother of three children, Karen immediately gave up work and helped out her family and four brothers. She has since gone on to explore several business ventures and now owns two local bars (The Village and The Anchor in Clowne) which her family help to run. In addition she has financially supported local sports teams such as League Division One team Chesterfield FC where she has sponsored the Karen Child Stand for the last six years. She is also now a director and shareholder for the Sheffield Sharks Basketball team. Her very latest project is the establishment of The Child Foundation earlier this year – a charity supporting local children and families. She says: “I’ve loved every minute since winning and now have a lovely four bedroom home of my own. "I have met so many people and had the chance to get involved with lots of interesting projects, businesses and the local community. But, it has been all the more enjoyable with the support of my family who have got involved and supported me throughout.”

Good to see Ponds Forge full last night so there are positives for the Sharks. Thames Valley Cavaliers up next - that could be the tipping point for the season. Am I right in thinking the deadline for signing permit players is the end of January?

PS Did you ever manage to work out which of your six apparent Americans is actually British ?

However even if I won £10 million and spent it in the same benevolent way I don't think I'd put my name on the a**e of a bunch of sweaty basketball players over such a long period of time. Sharks should reward such loyalty with a place on their shirts.

Ratino has settled status Ratinho arrived in Britain in early January 2021. Prior to that he was living in San Francisco, attending the university there and playing for San Francisco Dons. To get EU Settled Status you need to have been resident in Britain for five years before applying for settled status. There is no way that he could qualify for settled status. www.bbl.org.uk/sharks-add-more-depth-with-jordan-ratinho/

It was said on sunday night breakdown by forrester, sonething to do with the Portuguese passport Can you remember which SNB it was when you heard this? I have watched most, if not all, and can't recall hearing Dave Forrester mention anything about Jordan Ratinho having "EU settled status."
