An interesting take. Aside from the fact they were wearing grey, I thought the game was refereed relatively well and if anything it favoured Cheshire. The level of physicality allowed is always going to allow players that defend as aggressively as Austin to be effective. Teague was regularly able to use his size to bang with Loving and anyone else that got in front of him. Not that I thought the post moves were necessarily fouls, but I've definitely seen people get in trouble whenever there's a hint of size difference. Perhaps if our defenders threw themselves to the ground like Neighbour has done in recent games, we might have gotten a few offensive fouls!
I must say I'm getting a little concerned about Thornton. The half court offense is significantly better when he isn't on the floor and as far as I'm aware he didn't come on at all in a tight 4th quarter. I know a point guard needs time to find their feet but he's been with the team since the back end of September. If he hasn't figured out the offense yet, will he ever? Not that I'm calling for his head, but we need to see more from him if we are to be a genuine challenger for 2nd place.
I completely agree with you about Thornton warming the bench in Q4. Twice Washington lost the ball with weak passes yet our American import wasn't deployed. It was telling that the coach didn't think he could make a difference in a VERY tight game. I am really hoping we can sign someone who can help in the low post now Walker's out. Last night showed how vital that is for future games. Adekoya and Nelson-Henry can't shoulder that burden alone for the rest of the season. Could Thornton have been injured as he played 20 mins until last quarter? Also Adekoya only got 16 mins despite no Mo Walker?

That's feasible but there didn't seem to be any signs of that. Loving didn't look great though after going down in Q3 I think. Appeared to be limping afterwards. Worried he may be slightly injured.

Just watched Rob's post match interview He said "we got a few bangs and bruises" At same time he also praised Kimbal for his energy and attacking the basket last quarter Riders were 1 from 14 three point shooting first half So that didn't help last night (I wonder If last night he played with half an eye on the fact we've got the long road trip to Plymouth tomorrow)

One of the reasons we were poor with 3 pointers was Cheshire's excellent defence of the perimeter. Very few open looks. Looks as if Loving just had an off night in the first half. Kimbal showed why he's a great asset to the team though. Went off like a firework with his energy and skill.

Again a few dodgy calls from our friends in pink probably cost us the win but hey ho we are playing riders shouldn’t expect anything else really bbl is the same as the premier league so called bigger teams get those calls having said that well played nix pushed them all the way An interesting take. For the record IRF when I said string I meant string wins like what those teams can put together not that we can beat all 3 of those teams at once. Also technically given how inconsistent we are if it so happens to be our day I'm pretty sure we can beat Riders, Lions and Giants too. Sorry yes I can see I've misread what you meant above Thank you for that, you do also know that you can access every BBL game through the British Basketball League YouTube channel? I've watched most Eagles away games this way and on some TV's YouTube is connected as an app to it. I just typed in British Basketball League and already found Riders vs Nix as well as Gladiators at Flyers. Back to the game last night I think there was a lack of communication amongst our players during transition. And you can tell looking in his eyes ost game that loss stung Steutel and throughout the game he was disappointed. As for Surrey again great plays partixulary from Wang and Martin. Apparently they were missing players though injury as well. I also enjoyed the pre game back story on the organisation before the game.

Well I'm honestly lost for words! Firstly well played to Surrey Scorchers and Lloyd Gardner. Eagles tonight were bad in the first half and at times careless on defence. As painful as it is to admit we didn't deserve it tonight. After that performance as well I certainly expect this Scorchers team to pick up more wins over the course of the season. And for Scorchers fans I hope some home W's too. As for Eagles I think I'm at a loss now for expectations. Whilst I certainly think we are a better team to watch then last season. I'm afraid it looks like we're going to struggle to get consistent back to back wins. To be honest I had a feeling if we win tonight the wagon wheels might still have fallen off post international break. But if we can't put together a string of wins like Leicester, London and Manchester etc... then we ain't getting much out of this season. Achara summed us perfectly post game. Again congrats to the Scorchers I'm sure there's going to be one great victory celebration on their bus home. Sometimes just better to credit the oppo, eagles got a lot of work to do on that evidence

Congratulations Scorchers on a deserved win. Agree that Wang is quality, I enjoyed watching him go to work. Eagles woes continue. Darius's early injury didn't help but none of the guards shot well. No excuses Scorchers were the better team. Teamnix I used to blame the referees a lot but then realized that many times I was wrong when I watched the game back. You came close which is to Nix credit. IRF, you amaze me. When I started this reply you had nine comments on the thread. Not one was about your hopes for the game or how Riders fared during it. Did you watch it? You obviously weren't there or did you stream the Eagles game at the same time? I give my team 100% attention when they play, win or lose. When I watch other games it's when Eagles aren't playing. I don't understand why any other fan would act differently. You predicted a comfortable Eagles game even though it had banana skin written all over it. Then you once again come on here simply to pour scorn and mock the Eagles performance. Your form for this behaviour goes back many years. You are entitled to your opinion but your Eagles obsession is now troll like. It is not a good look. What’s happened to Darius then? Nobody else stepped up, as if they just thought it’s would happen, Wang looks very good for Scorchers
