BBL site is still using the Glasgow Rocks logo and name on that link!

2 interesting derbies here between Giants and Nix as well as Flyers and Pats. I'm probably going to back the Flyers and Giants on those ones. Sharks and Gladiators I'm going to have to say Sharks on that one since Caledonia hasn't played yet and Sharks did handle London well in the first week.
The Eagles whilst the squad seems to be an improvement I think we'd be lucky not to lose by 30+ after what I saw between Lions and Riders last week. That being said we did inflict Londons first league loss last season when nobody expected it. But looking how stacked they are it is going to take a lot to dismantle them.

I wonder what will get more viewers. The Sky Sports BBL game, or Newcastle Eagles vs London Lions. I love the Friday night Sky Sports game but I also love the Lions team. It’s a dilemma.

BBL site is still using the Glasgow Rocks logo and name on that link! Actually the live stats is a FIBA website. Although it may be the BBL's responsibility to maintain the team names/logos. I know the FlashScore website/app still used the old Giants logo for a few years ago too. I've no idea how the team logos get updated on FlashScore, but Lions managed it (finally) over the summer.

I'm so pleased the BBL has full games, full game highlights, and short game highlights, on YouTube this season. And all available within minutes of a game finishing. It's maybe the best thing 777 have done since coming in.

Much improved coverage from a variety of sources. Great to be able to sit in the performance centre in Manchester and see Nix win then drive home and watch it all over again.

Well so far we're doing better then Leicester did against Lions but still a long way to go at HT 41-40 to Lions.
I wonder if perhaps Marc knowing the likes of Soko, Van Ostrum and Nelson from Team GB might have helped us in preparing for this game. Although I think we will run out of gas by the 4th Quarter since we are running a short rotation.

Well another brave game by the Eagles but not enough in the end. One thing I will give this Eagles team compared to last season is they really continue to fight.
Although very quickly that 2nd half turned into the Sky game last week where we stuck around but it became clear who was in control. Looks like so far only the Gladiators have came close to stealing a win. But I reckon the when Europe starts Lions may struggle to keep up.
As for the Eagles personally I blame lack of personnel for the loss tonight. As I said at the start of the season we're going to need a deeper bench if we're going to compete with the present BBL. When Hamlet picked up his 4th we were in trouble. Whereas Lions had that much artillery I'm surprised they don't have a secret game off rota aswell in their locker room.
As for the officials, completely clueless with some of their calls tonight. Not impressed at what they missed and how much they had to debate. I just hope out first win now is one the road against Plymouth as our best chance of any silverware this season would be in a knockout competition.
Overall atleast we weren't blown away tonight Lions.

I would suspect Sharks will make some changes after this loss. Simply not getting enough production out of their imports and desperately need someone who can create their own offense. Nichols is the only one whose spot is safe for me, Banks has been nowhere near bbl level unfortunately. On a positive note, I thought Delpeche had a strong game despite the missed dunk. Caledonia look a well balanced team this year and should be challenging the top 4

Well I had no expectations for this game but was really impressed by the fight in this Eagles team. Lions were utterly ruthless and were a joy to watch at times. They are stacked with talent and height (how many 7 footers?) and shouldn't lose. Not a level playing field (or court), not good IMO.

Giants were great to watch. 3 point shooting was insanely good. Lee was terrific and has got to be in the mix for MVP. However, it was Green's night. He was on fire and a joy to watch. His dunk by passing to himself off the backboard was flat out brilliant. Credit to Vince for assembling a really exciting, entertaining team.

Manchester deserved the win tonight, officials in the bbl are a disgrace the three out there tonight should not be allowed a junior game let alone a so called professional league amateurs the league will not progress until we have proper officials end of rant

Ah well that was the theory!! Excellent performance from Larry back to his best attacking the rim but we just weren't good enough, far too many 3 points against us and Larry apart we struggled. Game apart, I personally hate going to Manchester to watch, the atmosphere is spoilt by the constant loud music, the continual noise from the guy on the microphone and the incessant blasting out of "Defence" piped through the speakers. I even hate all that even when we win there.

Green and Lee is looking like some combo for Giants, they look a very good side this year
Gonna catch up on the Lions game now
This is looking like a potentially very good season for the league

But who is funding that squad? Still a mystery with no investment announced (unless I’ve missed it?).

Still not the best looking attendance either, stand that was in view on the sky was barely half full, considering they have started so well and is against a local rival that is really disappointing

Eagles (short-handed) fought valiantly but were eventually ground down. This London team looks to me like the best overall squad ever assembled in the UK. Their length and defensive intensity is really impressive. Mind you, with that budget they should be pretty awesome!

Still not the best looking attendance either, stand that was in view on the sky was barely half full, considering they have started so well and is against a local rival that is really disappointing And the opposite stand was practically empty. Less than a thousand in a 2 thousand seater arena. A really nice arena for one of the most exciting teams and the leagues most charismatic head coaches. As mentioned above, the match day experience is not the best. Having a rather long history, and a fantastic arena in one of the biggest cities, Giants should have one of the league’s biggest fan bases, but they stand out as the team with a lack of fans. I took a snapshot of how many live viewers on YouTube each game had. Newcastle Eagles vs London Lions 561 Bristol Flyers vs Plymouth 427 Manchester Giants vs Cheshire Phoenix 346 Sheffield Sharks vs Caledonia 184 None of this surprises me. London Lions are the team of the neutral fan. Bristol and Plymouth have a lot of fans. Sheffield Sharks have a thousand loyal fans that fill the Ponds Forge arena, but there are hardly any other fans watching from home. I hope their fans will follow them to their new arena when that opens.
