Good as Jackson Cartwright is/was I would prefer Crandall as PG for us every day of the week myself
I think he's been best PG in BBL for last 10 years at least?

Parker-Cartwright played for Phoenix in season 2019-20, we played the previous weekend, lockdown came, he like everyone else was off home within 36 hours. That was a good part season for Phoenix, large crowds I did hear a whisper that if the good season had continued on Nix were close to offering him a contract for the 20-21 season. He still got a standing ovation when he came to watch Nix play a few months ago.

'Player X isn't good enough to play at a better level hence why he's in the BBL' is a bit of a reductive argument. The aforementioned Jackson-Cartwright was in the BBL a few years ago. Next season he'll be playing Euroleague. I realise he's an extreme example and I'm not suggesting Geno can follow in those footsteps but still. Being in the BBL doesn't automatically make you not good enough for top leagues. I'm not an expert scout but it isn't clear to me what Geno's many faults are. In fact, I think he has some pretty obvious advantages over a lot of guards we've seen do very well in this league over the years. The one big knock on him his first year at Riders was his perimeter shot. Made about 40% from 3P range last season. I think he has quite a bit of potential to climb the ladder personally. But if he's happy at Riders I won't complain. One of the best and most entertaining players the league has seen in the last 10-15 years, in my opinion. Agree with your assessment and his defensive skills are also some of the best in the league.

Due to lack of ambition from Riders.

On a serious note though I'm gutted about this. Theres only been a few players Id genuinely pay to go and watch by themselves through the years Ive watched the BBL and hes one of them.

I like to give irf stick over it but I'm genuinely gutted over that move. Really enjoyed watching him play.
Leicester bad luck in Europe continues! Changes the whole dynamic

Wonder if they will try to buy Fletch out of his Manchester contract?

Riders try to poach Fletcher? Really cannot see that happening. Much as I love him I want a younger talented PG.

No matter how good the next PG
It's the lack of continuity and knowledge of BBL which means we have loads of work to do we didn't need to do
It's a huge blow
No two ways about it

Agreed Players like Crandall don't end up playing BBL very often Very hard act to follow in so many ways I kind of feel we only had him in BBL in first place due to Covid pandemic limiting options elsewhere

I saw him on twitter the other day absolutely torch a few NBA players in a summer league he’s been playing in, some talent he really is.
Alas, one door closes another opens. There’s always another talent out there somewhere.

Ultimately Geno isn't good enough to play at a lot higher level and has many faults hence why he's in the bbl. That's not a negative thats just a fact. So tallerman... Can you run us through those 'many faults' that make Geno demonstrably not good enough to play at a higher level. Apparently I'm not the only one who can't see them Unfortunately it's very hard to gloat over something that's just made me throw up. Can we rewind back to May and start this off season over again. It really is just turning into one let down after another.

Tallerman was obviously correct - Geno only good enough to play in the (German) BBL…….
I agree with you all - a difficult act to follow and especially given his two years’ experience of working with Rob & much of the Riders roster.

Face it, this is bad news. However, we'll get a new PG and better have this happen now than once the season had begun. There's time to get a replacement who can begin to learn how our team works. If there's one coach I trust to make a sound choice it's Rob Paternostro.

Wow did not expect that but I have a feeling this won't be the last you see Geno in BBL and I reckon he could maybe return to Riders.
Not surprising he wants to try his hand in a tougher league though and did regard him as one hell of a player when he kept his cool anyway.
Although the Riders squad was pretty strong even without him in some games I will admit this is like playing Chess and losing one of your Rooks in the early going.
Could be a bad sign for Leicester unless they can find someone just as good if not better.

Someone 'better'? Think that's too big an ask after he won league MVP 2 years in a row. If we get someone very good who can take on other PGs such as Fletcher or Reese then that'd be a HUGE achievement.
