Enjoying a conversation with irf and I wanted to go on a tangent.
Whos the better off court club Newcastle or Leicester?
Obviously off court they're the 2 best ever in my opinion but if we take in all aspects comparing the huge cvl of Newcastle against the huge college and uni programme of Leicester.
Both have their own arena but Newcastle own it outright.
2 of the best coaches all time
2 of the winningest clubs of all time
I'm literally on the fence
Thoughts ?

Eagles obviously have a far bigger fan base and are probably the most secure long term team in the league, but the Riders ownership/management team just feels levels abovr

What's the criteria? I thought it was going to be about which is more involved in their community, does more extra curricular work with kids, charities, etc. Promotes the sport. Go into schools.
But apparently it's just whose arena is shinier and who's dad is bigger than who's? A bit of willy waving going on.
I'd rather hear about which club actually has the best off court programme.

Happy to compare anything apart from games, players and trophies.
Literally any small detail

Eagles bigger fanbase
Riders player recruitment significantly better
Riders main sponsor Jelson Homes worth their weight in gold
Eagles don't have any sponsor remotely close to them right now
Which with their bigger fanbase suggests Eagles are poor commercially at selling themselves
Riders guy on the microphone match nights is 21st century
Eagles guy on the microphone 20th century
Both got great arenas
Both do lots of grass roots and community basketball
Matchnight presentation both could improve
Riders aiming for Europe for second time
Eagles not got close to doing it once yet
I honestly find it hard to rate Eagles higher on anything but fanbase tbh
Maybe community but Riders do lots of that as well
Weve kind of left Eagles behind I think
It's the fanbase and the arena that makes you think they ought to catch up at some stage
But being brutally honest Eagles have been talking about major rebuilds since Charles Smith retired
And haven't shown anywhere near the nous to actually do it
That requires creating funds and resources etc off the court to invest in deeper squads.
And surely they must know they need a deeper squad by now?
I think I'm being fair?

Eagles have got one amazing brick in their stadium that Riders don't have!

What's 2 of the best coaches of all time mean? Surely we are talking about now not history? Eagles coach totally unproven in BBL Robs forgotten more than Steutel knows about BBL?

You also know that even of Rob had to replace all his starters for next season that within a few months he would recruit an entirely new group and have them playing the same proven style winning basketball together and they would improve week on week
Riders have a proven winning system
The players change everything else repeats
It's a well oiled machine
Eagles are miles away from having a winning system that repeats
They've just started once again from scratch really

Nothing to do with players, winning or trophies everything else.
Crowd sizes Merchandise visibility Youth numbers Community programme
Look at all the things every club has the ability to maximise without winning. Who does that best

Crowd sizes Merchandise visibility Youth numbers Community programme Look at all the things every club has the ability to maximise without winning. Who does that best Eagles clearly don't do the best off the court They get biggest crowds but can't afford to invest in enough players The number of quality players in the squad shows that Surely that's very clear? Eagles don't have a main sponsor And the one they did get were very poor

You've reminded me
Riders social media etc always been great
We lost Joe Pinchin to NBA it was that good
But we've continued to get great social media
Maybe Joe still does it on the side?
Lol

Do eagles give all their fans a free t-shirt for playoffs?
When they qualify that is?
