I agree with this, but how many professional players per team are we talking? (not including clubs with a European campaign).

I would say as a minimum team should be aiming for 8 full time senior players, similar to Leicester this season, 4 imports and 4 Brits. Then another few of the usual scholarship/u23 players. Maybe even allow an additional import if they are here on an unpaid scholarship.

Okay well I don't think the salary cap would need to be increased by much to allow this. Two of the British players are outside the salary cap so that would be six professional players and a few semi pros. The current salary cap is £250k. I think £300k could cover it. Roughly 4 x £50k plus another £100k to cover all of the semi pro players. Obviously the salary budget including the top 2 British players would be more, maybe about £500k.
