With the new broadcast deal between Super League Basketball and DAZN starting this week I thought I’d create a new thread to discuss the actual coverage itself, how it compares to previous coverage in recent years on Sky Sports (both Buzz 16 and the in-house productions), and any other questions or comments on the DAZN platform. At the moment not much is known, but it has been confirmed the coverage won’t be centralised and commentators will be back in the arenas – which I’m sure will be welcome news to just about everyone on here. Also, discussions were had with multiple potential broadcast partners for this forthcoming season, with DAZN ultimately being chosen over Sky Sports and ITVX. I’ve signed up to DAZN and it’s free plan (which is all you need to watch Super League Basketball) and got it working on my Sky Q so I’m ready to go. Now we’re just waiting to DAZN to add the Super League Basketball coverage homepage ahead of this week’s opening games. I’ll report back on here once that’s been done.

First sign of Super League Basketball is now on DAZN... if you look at the schedule in the app, Friday's games are now listed! They are listed as requiring a subscription though, I assume that's an error and will get corrected before Friday. Also, I believe Super League Basketball will have it's own area via the 'sports' menu which'll be added in the next couple of days.

I can't see this on the schedule I'm looking at on DAZN do you have a link? I’m using the app (both on my iPhone and my SkyQ box) so can’t provide a link. How are you accessing DAZN and I’ll try and point you in the right direction to make sure you’re all ready to go. EDIT: Actually now the games have been removed from the schedule. Maybe they’re sorting out the fact they were listed as needing a subscription.

Hi still not showing on app have you had any look No, you're not alone. After Friday's (and only Friday's) games briefly appearing on the schedule yesterday they've now been removed. As I said, they were tagged as requiring a subscription so maybe they're just sorting out a few things. There's also no dedicated Super League Basketball section, or any mention of Super League Basketball in the general 'basketball' section, or in the 'Courtside' section (not that I'm expecting them to be in there). Given we're a little over 24 hours from coverage starting it feels all a bit last minute, but what hasn't been done last minute with the SLB so far! Hopefully something is immanent. I'm sure it'll be posted on here by someone, if not me, when there's an update.

Weekend games now on the schedule! Good spot! And this time they aren't listed as requiring a subscription, so all looking good! Also, although basketball isn't an option in the 'sports' menu if you go to the 'sports' menu and search for basketball you'll find the SBL games there too along with Italy's Lega Basket Serie A games (that don't require a subscription) and the Basketball Champions League games (that do require a subscription).

Interesting comments from SLB interim chair Vaughn Millette in the recent Hoopsfix podcast about the DAZN coverage... He said not to judge the quality of the coverage on just the first couple of weeks, it'll take time to get it right, which is understandable. He confirmed the commentators will be back in arenas, although the coverage will still be centralised - although I think he might be confusing centralised with consistent. I think he was trying to say coverage although done locally will look the same across the league (same on screen graphics etc.) rather than there being a central broadcast centre but I could be wrong. He also said to expect wider coverage than just the games, suggesting features and a magazine-style show (hosted courtside rather than in a studio) but all this will be done in the coming weeks once they get established. And finally from my own observations, it looks like SBL games will not only be available live, but there'll be a 'watch from the start' option if you're joining late and they'll be available on demand minutes after the live coverage finishes. Overall, everything is sounding good.

Basketball is now one of the listed sports on the DAZN app. You don't have to search for it.

He’s made some very favourable statements that just won’t hold up. Hoping I’m wrong though

Hoping I’m wrong though Plenty of British people like basketball but the BBL wasn't popular, and I would say the number one reason was lack of funding. With investment and leadership most of the other problems can be overcome.
