They're gradually turning the commentary up at Eagles! [br The on screen graphic also says Newcastle are winning by 13, when in fact they’re losing by 4! Whilst there’s still no on screen score or clock for the Leicester/Bristol game at half time.

I think the DAZN coverage was alright last night. Tho one comment, and this was the criticism from last year to. They need to sort out the score graphic. It is so difficult to read! The contrast of the black and white is too much. Some of it is my ayes I admit however I watch European and NBA and never have trouble telling 5’s 6’s and 8’s apart. Picture quality was a bit fuzzy but I have a larger tv so……

Overall it wasn’t on the level of last season but I don’t think we should expect it to be given the large amounts of money spent on it last year - and it also being responsible for the largest amount of debt incurred.
Improvements need to be made, but for an opening night I think it was acceptable all things considered. Hopefully we’ll see improvement in quality as the weeks go on.

I went to sleep with the phrases " Loud and Proud" and " Make some Noise" ringing in my ears.

is that the honeymoon over lol HT at Surry they said interview with the GM/Owner - never happened, got loads of dazn trailers instead and game has returned in 2nd half with no sound.
EDIT to update: app locked up the tv. switched off (equiv of the MS windows reset lol) and now back working with commentary and arena sound present.

What’s the situation with signing up? Are they not requesting subscription fees on sign up?

What’s the situation with signing up? Are they not requesting subscription fees on sign up? Yeah I had the same issue at first. Basically to get around it you just register then click off when it gets to the membership payment bit. After that if you reopen the app or page you should have an account and a home page. I think without paying some of the events like exclusive boxing or Fiba qualifiers are locked behind the pay wall. But SLB basketball should be free to watch.

And having watched (bits of) all 4 games broadcast so far I’d actually say the quality of the Surrey/London game was perhaps the best! (along with maybe the Caledonia game too). Still I’m willing to cut them some slack for the first few weeks whilst they’re still getting everything sorted. Hopefully we won’t be seeing the same issues in a months time.

Still some teething issues with the Manchester Vs Newcastle game but they managed to sort a lot of it out during the game.
I have confidence they will have the sound sorted at all the venues quite soon. It seems the sound is the hardest thing to get right.
I absolutely do prefer the commentators being at the venue. We have great local commentators who are better than the central BBL commentators. And for me having a local commentator with local knowledge adds to the enjoyment of the game.

Having finally watched the game back on DAZN this evening with Eagles@Manchester. The main issue I found was it was it was hard to navigate the fast forward and back bar on the TV with it. I skip ahead to get through a timeout and it's hard to control where it stops as jumps to far. Their was an echo issue in the 1st quarter which was ironed out quick though. Apart from that I'm glad it is on a platform and free although I do think without any terrestrial coverage like Sky , Eurosport or BBC etc... I'm not sure how well the league is going to promote itself if they decide to situated the games only on DAZN. I am thankful we fortunately have a league and know they can only tackle a few things at time. But I hope for when the Championship games starts the league is planning to look into something like this. Otherwise I question how they are going to attract new fans and any potential new franchises.

It's been a soft launch which seems like the best option with the potential for technical teething problems and the fact that some teams have been thrown together very quickly. We also don't know what else DAZN has planned for basketball. They have SLB, Serie A and BCL. All good but probably not exciting enough to attract many new fans.

The picture quality is first class, the DAZN app is easy to navigate and it's free. I'm sure any niggles will be ironed out.

Having a professional and recognisable broadcast partner like DAZN is great, but given it's an exclusive deal don't expect to be seeing SBL anywhere else anywhere soon. So it's great for the existing fans, but isn't really going to do anything to attract new fans. Perhaps the only opportunity in that respect is YouTube as I know DAZN stream some of their womens football on YouTube for greater exposure. But even then, the DAZN YouTube channel won't have the same reach as the Sky Sports YouTube channel.

Super League Basketball (SLB) is proud to appoint Brandvox and EMG / Gravity Media as the League’s official Broadcast Production Partners.www.superleaguebasketballm.co.uk/super-league-basketball-confirms-broadcast-production-partners-for-2024-25-season/So now we know who is producing the SBL coverage this season. And for those already not aware Brandvox are no stranger to producing British basketball coverage... they first got involved producing the Flyers TV coverage during the days of the pandemic & the BBL Player. They later went on to produce the BBL YouTube coverage whilst Buzz 16 were producing the Sky Sports coverage. The news article also confirms what I'd already posted on here, that they'll soon be producing offering "a weekly half-hour highlights show alongside additional digital content".
