Dekker and Taylor would surely represent most of their allowed budget taking into account the £500k salary cap?

Unless they're owned by the Lithuanian team and just loaned to london Would not surprise me in the least that Lions somehow fiddle away around the salary cap and end up with another super team. And completely screw up a so called brand new start for the league.

Surely Dekker & Taylor alone would breach the salary cap? I thought Dekker was on about 800k during the last two seasons.

It's just wild speculation and although it makes your life harder it's exactly what would benefit basketball in this country.
Imagine Sandy had a stand out season and is already under contract with the Lithuanians. You want people to be able to go back and forth.
I don't remember any outrage when Leeds Force loaned one of the top gb point guards at the time, even if it only lasted for 1 game which is they lost to the mighty Raiders

I haven't seen the exact wording of the rules for SLB. It's £500k, but can teams have star players that are outside the salary cap? I didn't like London's ridiculously deep squad last season. It spoilt BBL for everyone. But I liked London Lions in the 2022-23 season. I think it's good to have quality players like Decker and Taylor in the league. It just wasn't good when London had a stacked bench and other teams had 8 players total.

Honestly my patience is wearing thin. How utterly clueless are the people running these clubs/this league. It's really not hard.

With very little time left it's a little concerning that several teams still have a lot of announcements to make - keeping their powder dry, although the players are already signed? Or is it just that the chaos post the collapse of £ions made it so much more difficult for clubs?

Maybe they're going to wait until everyone has a roster before they finalise the rules, so they can put it the loop holes that Lions will need with Decker and Taylor.

They won't be able to bring in any big salary players so I'm guessing we will see last season's British bench players signed.

Eagles add 6'6 rookie US forward De'Sean Allen-Eikens, who averaged 18 PTS, 5 RBS, shooting 36% from 3 for NCAA D1 Cal State Matadors. I have zero idea about US college basketball but he sounds promising for a rookie.

Still leaves it unclear whether he'll be playing for the 'new' £ions but it's an interesting article which sheds light on the fact that not all players remain with a club for solely financial reasons, as his wife explains.

It’s very risky for a non British player to set roots in the UK, Usually it’s a one year contract leaving your club with no problem if they want rid, So for his wife to basically say we now have a new and settled life in London is some statement, Hope he has a London based plan B for when Lions want rid.

That would mean the most probable outcome is that Dekker will get loaned to a club elsewhere in Europe with the means to cover part or all of his salary. That could erase that hit on the salary cap of the London Lions and enable the Dekkers to remain based out of the city.
This paragraph sound like a loop hole that Lions could slip through and could possibly for big occasions bring in Dekker.

Lions sign Irish guard Sean Flood from BNXT League Ireland captain. One of the only Irish players playing overseas. Irish citizen therefore doesn't need a visa and probably shouldn't be counted as an import. Hopefully this gets some interest from basketball fans in Ireland.
