2023.10.29 Your kindness has inspired me to go further, let me explain! I've added a few more columns to the league table, and I've produced the league table for each of the 4 weeks this season. The columns I've added are: PLW - Position last week, fairly obvious, so you can see where that team were in the league the week before, doesn't make a lot of sense early on in the season with so few games played though. WTW & LTW - Wins and losses this week, so you can see how that team performed since last week. PRTCLPODO - Points relative to current league position of defeated opponents, what a mouthful! Basically a score given to each team based on who they have beaten and where that team currently is in the league, therefore beating a team near the top is worth more than beating a team near the bottom. A team scores 1 point for beating the bottom team, up to 13 points for beating the top team. Is recalculated each week based on the new position of the defeated team, rather than where they were at the time the match was played. I think it's useful as you can note certain things from it, for example, Bradford Dragons appear to be second from bottom, with only 1 win, however that win was against Nottingham Hoods who are 4th, which gives them a score of 10. Compare that to London Elite, also on just 1 win but it was against bottom of the league Barking Abbey which only gets them 1 point, so arguably that shows that Bradford are relatively stronger than London Elite. At the top of the table the same thing can be shown, Birmingham Rockets and Reading Rockets have both got 3 wins, however as Birmingham's are all against the bottom teams they only score 13, whereas Reading have beaten Loughborough Riders giving them 22 in total, which shows them as being stronger. Of course you can only beat the teams in the schedule so it's too early to draw anything definite. PRDP - Points relative divided by matches played, the same as above but dividing by the number of matches played as a team playing more matches had more opportunity to gain points, therefore Derby, despite having the highest score of 26, doesn't have the highest score when divided by the matches played as they've played more matches than their close rivals. Victories - the teams they have beaten during the season in chronological order. Obviously if they beat the same team twice then it'll be listed twice. Think that's it!

Tees Valley Mohawks heartache as Sheffield Elite snatch the win with a 85-82 victory in division 3 men north conference. Mohawks again down to extremely low numbers with Injuries, illnesses. 5 senior men players plus two U16 made up the squad today. Jake Butler earned MVP with a 26 point, 10 rebounds and 9 assists performance well supported by Dan Kelsey 18 points 14 rebounds and Lewis Butler who had 17 Pts, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Coach Butler says “We were leading majority of the game but tiredness kicked in the 4th quarter but that’s what happens when you’re short on the bench. Sheffield Elite hit some big three pointers down the stretch but I’m so proud of the seven guys, We have a weekend off now so hopefully Acho, CP, Niall, Lewis W and Chris will be back for the remainder of the season so we can put in a play off charge. “ #proudtobeamohawk

A bit of a change this week, Reading Rockets lost to Essex Rebels which means that everyone has lost at least 1 game already. Keeps the top 6 pretty close really. I've left out the zeros in the wins/losses this week section, I think it makes it a bit clearer who played this week and what their results were.

What is the standard like in Div 1 this season? Surprised to see Loughborough on top with wins against Derby, Hemel, Worthing and Birmingham. Would suggest to me that its dropped a little?

What is the standard like in Div 1 this season? Surprised to see Loughborough on top with wins against Derby, Hemel, Worthing and Birmingham. Would suggest to me that its dropped a little? I'm probably not the right person to answer, but a few teams have definitely dropped, Worthing and Hemel have lost key players and are lower in the league as a result. Thames Valley are also a lot lower than I have been used to. Recently the standard has been really high though, Hemel and Worthing last season, Solent before that. So if the standard is lower it's probably because it had been so high recently. That Solent team came within inches of winning the BBL Trophy for example. Loughborough on top doesn't really mean anything, there's 1 loss separating 7 of the 13 teams, it's very tight at the moment, it's still early season. Barking Abbey look worst based on their results, but having seem them at the weekend they should win matches, I'm sure they're not the worst team in the league.

Hemel (TJ, Rai, Sylla) and Worthing (Moya, Blain, OJ, Arissol) had stacked rosters last season and are not as strong as last year but still very competitive. but the whole division is more competitive this season instead of having 2 dominant sides. Trophy final is Bradford v Reading or Derby. Everyone has a defeat already. Loughborough, Hoods, Essex, Bradford sides all have more depth and size. COB really strong with Kayne, Toluwase and OJ. Newcastle always a tough place to go. Barking are bottom but beat Reading in Trophy group. TVC not as strong as 3 years ago but have experienced roster. London Elite could find the step up to D1 tough but they could pull an upset or 2. There is no super Solent team or Hemel with TJ and Rai to dominate but the D1 has more depth than ever and no easy games this season. Attendances seem to be up too - Hemel, COB, Worthing, Reading nearly always sell out. Essex had over 1,000 at home and Derby had record attendance trialling Uni venue vs Worthing. Loughborough was nearly full vs Derby and Hoods getting better crowds this season. Still lesser supported teams like Elite, Barking and Newcastle, but overall D1 will be very interesting most weeks. Shame no BBL Trophy for last seasons top 4 Hemel, Worthing, Derby and Reading

Losses for Loughborough and Birmingham see them slip down the table this weekend, with only 1 match left to play today (Loughborough v Nottingham). Birmingham were about 5-25 down near the start which was a surprise. Reading beat London Elite, as you might expect, but after overtime.
