The big boys at 777 send a message to the Lions Moments before tip off saying they are pulling the plug, No one is being paid and all assets have been returned immediately, Lions players scatter Leaving Youngblood and Lockhart to scrape a side together.
Phoenix win by default 20-0 and everyone goes home early… As the circus packs up its tent and hopefully f*cks off

The longer this farce continues the more surreal and frustrating it gets. I think when 777 are finally dragged out of the BBL we will awaken as if from a nightmare. Just praying that their eventual demise doesn't destroy the BBL. I really hope Phoenix are on song and £ions aren't. At least we'll have something to cheer at the end of a season marred by monopoly money.

I predict the game will go ahead. Maybe no one gets paid but there's no pay day between now and Sunday. The game's up for London Lions but the players will want to finish the season. After that London Lions and the BBL will begin to be wound up. I don't see how the BBL can survive but hopefully the teams will survive and form a replacement league.

Unfortunately wont be watching - suspect I wont be the only neutral making that decision. Nothing to do with 777 or who the two teams are in the final - would like to have watched them battle again, could be a good one.
Nope all down to scheduling - someone thought it was a good idea to put the Play-off final directly up against the final day of the EPL when every side kicks=off at 4pm and we have extended live tv coverage!!

Why waste your time with the EPL. The team that are probably going to win this year are already facing 100+ accounts of breaching the leagues FFP rules. Whilst they disproportionately dock points off the smaller (poorer) teams. Forrest's points deduction is farcical as they are measured against a much smaller amount of money, Everton will they wont they. Yet City they seem scared. The BBL we have the local community club who operate on a shoe string with a real chance of showing up the club with an almost unlimited resources and £££££££ who also are owned by the the same private equity company as the league. This is British Basketball v 777

I'd love it if Nix manage to repeat their previous big win. I can't see it as Lions are rolling right now.

the shoestring line is overused. everyone wanted Aaryn rai last summer. he didnt sign for peanuts If theirs one guy in the league who shouldn't be worried about whether he gets another contract next season or not it is certainly Aaryn Rai. I think Cheshire will have a challenge fighting off the interest he is going to get from other clubs in both the UK and abroad after this season. Although that being said if Cheshire have proved anything this season. It is that they know how to rebuild and that anyone who counts them out heading into next season would be a fool.

I can't think that it was the financial side of things bringing him to the Nix. Perhaps he got a gift card for Cheshire Oaks and a years free petrol from Stanlow? Seriously I've been privileged to watch him play at close quarters this season, many many thanks, just one to go!!

Just listened to the D&J podcast and surprisingly Azania Stewart reckons Cheshire could beat Lions on Sunday.
To be honest I think it will be a good game but reckon Lions will come out on top. If this was a final against Leicester, Newcastle or Sheffield etc.. Lions would probably treat it like a casual day at the office.
But since it is against the Nix who are the only team that really got one over them and upset them in the Trophy. If I were the Lions I would be wanting to go out there and drop 40 points on Nix then send them back to Cheshire crying.
Seeing how Nix clearly aren't afraid of Lions and aren't afraid to trash talk as well. I imagine if Lions had to pick their dance partner for the Final they would have wanted Cheshire as well for that reason.

I am quite surprised to see Eagles in the women's playoff final. At the start of the season they were not one of the top teams. Matt Newby has clearly had an impact. I don't know if they've brought any new players in.
They will be playing London Lions, but this is not the London Lions team that won EuroCup Women. At least 3 players are now playing in the WNBA. Temi Fagbenle is playing with Caitlin Clark at Indiana Fever. London Lions women really was a world class team. We do have a golden generation of British female basketball players.

Eagles women were struggling but brought in two new Americans Tierra Hodges in December and Jada Dapaa in February. Both have been balling since. Amazing they made it to the final considering (as far as I know) their still essentially an unpaid Uni team.

Like Keegan, I would love it if Phoenix managed to win the playoff final but I can't see past £ions for this one. Having said that, the recent news about 777 must be unsettling for some of the players and they may not be as focused as they'll need to be against Cheshire. £ions really ought to take the trophy but...

He was not happy.

He was not happy. Yes that was after the Bristol game and made me laugh. But on the podcast this week she had to describe BT with one word and used "lucky", altho that may have been tongue in cheek. Personally hers and Todds commentating on the Trophy final was such a downside when watching it back. It was so obvious the whole weekend was geared towards promoting the mighty London Lions, also featuring Nix, Gladiators & Riders

And in fairness to her you only have to look at the British Basketball Instagram page and you can see how many posts are London Lions dominated! On Friday nights Eagles vs Lions game David Nwaba put in a fantastic slam dunk which was followed up straight away with a reply dunk on the other end by Taj Green. However on the Instagram video they only showed Nwaba's dunk. I understand their trying to build the leagues reputation through Lions. But if you went on the British Basketball Instagram page you'd be forgiven if you thought you had clicked on the Lions page by mistake.
