A couple of things have me confused..
1) Throughout the season I have heard people mention that the play-offs could be along the lines of a bracket as opposed to the traditional 1-8 seeding. Does anyone know for certain which option has been adopted?
2) In this week’s Saturday Night Breakdown, Dave Forrester mentioned that the three game sequence would be AHH as opposed to the assumed HAH. Has this been officially announced anywhere?

Although think they should avoid the bracket and keep it even more interesting. Having said that if your team finishes 6th or 7th and somehow pulls of an upset win round one then it means you will avoid getting Lions in the Semi Finals despite most likely being the lowest seed left in the competition.

How about a rule that if the club has overdue debts, and owes hmrc money they are excluded from the playoffs?

How many clubs would fit those criteria?

After watching the Sky game last night and having thought about it. If a bracket was brought into it then it actually wouldn't benefit the Lions.
Cause right now no matter what if they keep the playoffs in the normal format they are guaranteed the lowest ranked team at every stage.
Whereas if you have the bracket and their set up to face 4th vs 5th place which is the top 4 went through they'd be guaranteed anyway.
Whereas if you bring in a bracket and then 6th or 7th place somehow wins the 1st round and gets to the semis. Then Lions lose that luxury of having the easiest route to the playoffs if they bring in a bracket as they won't be able to get the lowest ranked team left in the competition.
So realistically if the league (not saying they are) were trying to bend the playoffs to best suit Lions. Then bringing a bracket in wouldn't make sense.

When are we actually going to find out? It’s, like, three weeks away now.

this is the type of thing thats looks unprofessional. these brackets should all be set by seed so everyone can follow along and watch the run in with added interest. sureky the staff at clubs know the setup even if were in the dark. as has been previously stated its qill likely just be whatever suits lions. i remember last season london played friday and monday (possibly thursday sunday?) in there fixture and chesire calidonia played back to back saturday and sunday.

the back to backs though will have been venue driven - not something to favour one side or another. As you say - the clubs will know the setups - and where they are able, like Caledonia this year unlike last year, they will be able to block out dates at the venue that will hopefully mean no back to backs. It may mean a less popular home game day if the opponent only has one fixed day they can secure their hall, but hopefully where Sharks, Gladiators involved less chance of back to backs as they have more control of venue dates than had in past seasons.

if both teams are playing back to back the disadvantage is minimal …..

if both teams are playing back to back the disadvantage is minimal ….. I disagree. If they are back to back, the first home team only has one journey. Last year the Glads had to travel to Nix then had to travel back, where the Nix only had to travel to Glads. Though two games in 24hrs should be allowed, it can’t be great for player welfare.

Listening to Dan and Dave podcast, according to Dan Routledge the format for this year will be the highest seeded team will be able to choose the order of the games.

On something like this I'd always trust Dan to be correct. Disappointingly though I suspect the higher seeded team's decision on the order of games will sometimes be based on venue availability/cost (especially around scheduling a potentially not required game 3) rather than what they'd actually prefer.

Assuming we get the end of the season, it's nearly the 15th of April, any Evertonians biting their nails?

I suppose even the traditional 1-8 seeding with 1v8, 2v7, 3v6 and 4v5 format could be described as a bracket, or was it specifically said a random draw bracket could be used? Either way, I'm almost certain it's the traditional format we're all familiar with, just with best of 3 game series.

Assuming we get the end of the season, it's nearly the 15th of April, any Evertonians biting their nails? It seems the 15th of April is just a critical date in the proposed Everton takeover... What's more significant for the BBL is getting another few million out of 777 to pay bills that I believe are due about now, otherwise it'll the third time the league is 'days away from administration' this season. I'm fairly confident the BBL will complete this season, but the off-season is going to be very interesting.

Whether it's a bracket or not only changes what happens in the semi final in an 8 team playoff. As far as I'm aware the intention at the start of the season was for a bracket the same as most other leagues where the winner of 1v8 plays winner of 4v5 and then winner of 2v7 plays winner of 3v6. Apparently that has been changed back to our usual system of top remaining seed playing bottom remaining seed in the semi.
Why it has changed back I don't know. But in a league as skewed to one team as the BBL there is a massive incentive to finish 6th/7th instead of 4th/5th if it's a bracket. It would mean avoiding london until the final. So would essentially make riders/eagles/sharks a race for 6th not 4th.
