Whether it's a bracket or not only changes what happens in the semi final in an 8 team playoff. As far as I'm aware the intention at the start of the season was for a bracket the same as most other leagues where the winner of 1v8 plays winner of 4v5 and then winner of 2v7 plays winner of 3v6. Apparently that has been changed back to our usual system of top remaining seed playing bottom remaining seed in the semi. Why it has changed back I don't know. But in a league as skewed to one team as the BBL there is a massive incentive to finish 6th/7th instead of 4th/5th if it's a bracket. It would mean avoiding london until the final. So would essentially make riders/eagles/sharks a race for 6th not 4th. If that is the case though then that sounds terrible. As an Eagles fan and if I was a Sharks and Riders fan I would want my team competing to finish as high as they can to get the best possible route. Not desperately trying to throw matches so they avoid facing Lions on route to the finals so they can finish in 6th place. That would be farcical!

I think that’s outdated. Surrey are already selling game 2 tickets for Fri 3rd May. I assume that’s for the QF, rather than SF..!

Watching the Sky game and at Halftime they ran a promo on how the playoffs were working and they have kept the traditional format meaning no bracket.
So in other words it means Lions are guaranteed the lowest seed in the semi finals if they progress and if your 4th place or lower now you run the risk of facing Lions in the Semi Finals.

As it should be… teams success in the regular season should be rewarded in the playoffs. Here’s the explainer promo if anyone is interested:

Nice format. And a nice quarter final for London and Surrey, not having to travel far. There will be some who would call it a derby.

Well looking at the table now it appears we now know 2 of the Quarter Finals which are...
Lions vs Scorchers and Nix vs Flyers.
Question is what the mid table match ups will be but I imagine that could be confirmed tommorow night.

And that's a wrap on the season and looks like the post season match ups are...
1st- Lions vs 8th-Scorchers 2nd-Nix vs 7th-Flyers 3rd-Glads vs 6th-Eagles 4th-Sharks vs 5th-Riders
Apart from Lions vs Scorchers where I think the Lions will cruise in 2 games. The other 3 games could go either way.
Whilst as an Eagles fan I'm dissapointed to see us finish 6th. I am looking forward to finally seeing a best of 3 series style playoffs as opposed to a 2 leg format.
Apart from Surrey vs London I think the other games are yet to be announced.

Gladiators hosting Eagles on Friday night - but we dont see yet when game 2 will be. I guess till know date of game 2, Glads cant announce a game 3 date.

It wouldn't suprise me if that is the Sky game as well. Since both teams own their venues then it should make pencilling this game in not to difficult. For game 2 I know it won't be Saturday night as the Eagles women are playing unless they do a double header thing. Going off that logic I reckon it will most likely be Sunday Afternoon in that case. Which I suppose would help us avoid having to play 2 games in the space of 24 hours.

Riders have changed their Facebook profile image to have a black background. Is their significance to that. Or are they in mourning for this season already?
