Could this be 2 consecutive wins in all competitions for Raiders / Patriots v Riders going back back 12 seasons?

Big day of games for the teams involved today. For Eagles a win would certainly close the gap on Gladiators and make next weeks match up even tastier.
And same for Sheffield if they want to have a chance of climbing up the ladder want and gain some bragging rights in what could be a potential 1st round playoff match up since they are 2-1 against us this season.
Whilst Riders need to also beat Plymouth in order to stay in the running for 3rd position. With no Teddy Allen and a disastrous game the other night at home I'm sure Riders will want to respond with a beat down on Plymouth today. And possibly begin the birth of new streak as well.
Should be a good day all round in the BBL.

One win in the last five games for the Riders, After Christmas is when we usually pick up our form, but that’s definitely not happening.
If Holmes is still out it could be a struggle again as Patriots have plenty of shooters, But we really need to restart our 12 season winning streak Vs Plymouth again this afternoon.
Just wondering if we will finish the game with a full roster including coaching staff.

Paternostro's technicals were probably rooted in his frustration with the lack of improvement by the team. Fairly ridiculous that Allen is serving a 2 game ban and then our coach goes off on one with the refs too. Either that or he read the runes and thought we had little hope of winning the game so decided to abandon ship as captain and let Vasquez take charge.

Patriots playing very well, Riders not so much. Defence poor, three point shooting very poor and free throws very poor. Have to step up in the second half or this will be another defeat. Russell is doing well. Good to have him back playing. Some lovely passing by him.

Why do Eagles struggle against Sharks? I only caught the last quarter. Eagles's stats don't look bad, although the Eagles bench didn't contribute as much.

Either that or he read the runes and thought we had little hope of winning the game so decided to abandon ship as captain and let Vasquez take charge. But hasn't that not been the narrative of this Leicester team this season? Whilst I doubt Rob would purposely get himself chucked out a game I did notice between Riders and Caledonia as a team they got frustrated quite a bit with each other on the court. And I believe Vasquez got a tech towards the end as well. The funniest thing on commentary was hearing the commentators saying Rob is usual quite chilled out. As soon as he said that I thought you should have seen him 10 years ago when he used to pick up atleast 1 tech per game practically especially when it was Eagles vs Riders.

Fair enough last week we had a tough schedule but this weekend we got no excuse and were ahead to begin with in this one. Got to hand it to the Sharks on this one they have shown it doesn't matter which Eagles team shows up they are always able to give us a good one going up 3-1 over us. Whilst I believe we have a good team and anything can happen. I'm not going to lie if we draw Sharks in round 1 then I will be nervous.

To make that win even sweeter that defeat means Patriots now cannot make the playoffs. That will wipe the smile off of Paul James’s face…..if he ever had one.

Never in doubt? Hmmm...
That was awesome and frankly incredible. Interesting to see Russell preferred to Washington. He played well. Capable of some lovely passing. Lall, Mackenzie, Shelton and Idowu refused to lose. Dug deep and never gave up. Without Holmes and Allen too. Congratulations Riders. Don't think that long journey home will seem so tiring now!

Wasn't expecting a double OT in that one. This is why I rate Plymouth higher the Manchester at the moment despite the league standings. Next week is going to be a big week for us against Gladiators then Riders. If we can win those 2 games then I like to think we will have a good chance on clinching 3rd.

Because Eagles rely on run and gun basketball. Sheffield are pretty methodical and keep mistakes to a minimum. If Newcastle can't rely on transition as much they resort to iso ball and it just doesn't work. I'm expecting a bit of a free fall from them in the final run in.

Eagles are 1-1 v sharks in games where they don’t have a substantial rest disadvantage.
and it’s their defence, not their offence which is the issue.

I agree with that, but isn't the offence kind of predicated on the defence being able to conjure up transition opportunities. I respect your opinion as you always talk sense on here, but I feel like I've sat in my seat all season at the VMA frustrated by how stagnant the offence can be. Maybe I'm just the only one and have an unrealistic idea of how the team should be playing basketball. I expected the ball to pop more with this lineup of talented guards.

Does look like the idea of collecting the best players together to be a super team hasn't worked for Eagles. Perhaps it's the TEAM bit causing the problems.
