London Lions women’s players and staff were informed last week by 777 they would not be entering Euro competitions next season and are looking to cut back on spend significantly next year.
Is this the thin end of the wedge when it comes to 777’s spending

At least they've been told in plenty of time to arrange teams for next season. They should all be able to get professional contracts in Europe or even Australia.

Well that is bad news for Londons players although even if they cut back that doesn't mean to say they won't still dominate the WBBL.
It just means they will probably lose some of their high level prospects and probably down grade the quality slightly.
I dont know much about the women's competition but I wondered if their was not a lower level then Eurocup the Lions Ladies could enter which might be more cost effective?

There's the EWBL which is the women's version of ENBL. It would still require flights, so still a cost and not high profile but it would be the cheapest way to keep London Lions Ladies in a European competition.

Is this the thin end of the wedge when it comes to 777’s spending I hate to say it, but it makes sense. The Lions women’s team, financially, has been a disaster this season. Given how well they’ve done on the court I hate to say that, but it’s true. This appears to be a business decision to prioritise and focus on the Lions men’s team, the team with the most potential financially. Disappointing, but probably the right decision all things considered right now.

No surprise really given the news this week that one of their financial partners is reducing their interest in 777. As a result, it’s rumoured the Everton deal is nearly off the table

Yes this is true and a shame, however I am not surprised. Womens basketball is lacking in the UK unfortunately. Their last game against Cardiff wont have helped. Their budget must have been pretty big this season with the quality signings they made. They have a great chance of winning the Eurocup!
