Let’s get real. Unless U.K. Sport or some other faction of the government commit to investing the £5M+ million per year to develop the national teams and player pathways, we will continue to be deluded to think we can compete. Seems like shifting the deck chairs on the Titanic!! Stacking deckchairs would probably draw more viewers to be fair.

For anyone that is wanting to watch GB in Eurobasket. I have found the best way to be through the Bet365 app. Aslong as your account has funds deposited you can watch nearly any Basketball game. Believe minimum deposit is £5, so it’s a cost effective way of watching. Rather then the £12 or so for courtside which only give you the qualifiers. However coverage can be a little iffy sometimes and no commentary.

Appreciate the heads up. GB played great for the first 17 minutes and then couldn’t pass to eachother it seemed. Some terrible turnovers. Killeya-jones has been the difference. Hell of a talent on both ends of the floor. Would be surprised not to see him in a Lions jersey next season. Horchler and Nelson also playing well. Nelson and Wheatle have some stupid moments where they seem to have a competition of who can commit the worst turnover. I like the balance of this squad though, a lot of youth.

An entertaining game tonight although despite the win, considering how we allowed Holland back into it doesn't give me confidence we will do so well against the other teams in the group.
The game to start with was really slow paced from both sides but once GB picked up the pace I felt Holland couldn't keep up and struggled which led to the high foul count. To the point where I thought we were going to finish this by half time.
However in the 2nd half after a promising start we let the Dutch creep their way back in to the point where I thought we were going to blow it in embarrassing fashion. Before turning it back on in the 4th Quarter and managing to closing out.
GB shot the ball well but I felt both teams looked like a team at the start of the season who weren't as familiar with one another hence the turn overs and errors. Fortunately for us the Dutch were having the same issues.
Overally before the game i wasnt sure what to expect from the Netherlands but from reading the pre game programme which also had the wrong date on it as Feb 28. It sounded like they were in a similar boat to GB but worse since they had previously dissolved as a national team due to funding. So going into the game I felt we had a good chance of winning.
But in the end I credit them for coming back and I think with the slender margin win for GB. Whilst I'm glad we beat them tonight if both teams are tied in the group and GB lose away to them. Then that lack of margin could come back to haunt us in the future if we lose by 10 away to them.
However for now I will take the win and look forward to the next one if it is to be held on Tyneside again. Definatelty will check out the courtside thing online if it means I can watch the away game against Czech Republic. They lost to Greece tonight so will be determined to get a win.

Struggle to understand Steutals rotations. How Jacob Round is getting so many minutes baffles me. Looks completely out of his depth.
Interesting that not a single London player in this squad. No Nelson tonight but he didn’t seem to pick up any injury in the last game. Nelson, Soluade, Olaseni, Phillip would all feature in this squad no doubt. Noticed all the London players have been on a break and holidays during this international break.
Impressed with some of the younger players.

Satoransky is about three levels above anyone else on the court

Satoransky is about three levels above anyone else on the court Class player. SKJ looked great though, really impressed with him.

Didn't see the game so couldn't comment although after the slender win over the Dutch the other night I wasn't overly confident.
Although I noticed in the other group game Greece only just defeated the Dutch by 2 points. 1 win out of 2 for the first Eurobasket window though ain't the end of the world.
And I only being 8 points down I can see us potentially pulling that back when we host the Czechs at home in 1 years time.
I just hope all this talk in written in the programme I read on Friday night about how GB Basketball is looking to do things differently and improve itself eventually pays off.

With all of the Lions players not included it is encouraging that there is a lot of player depth available to the coaches.

Does look like there is some sort of player progression in these last two games. Players are selected to play for Great Britain and if their performance proves good enough then they are signed by London Lions. Just a thought?

Thing for me was that our best five has a decent pedigree with their careers and current clubs. The call up of SKJ has to be continued.
Annoying that it’s not until November for the next window. A double header v Greece. Really need to use the warm ups of the Olympics to get some decent fixtures in.

Maybe too early to know this for next season. If this is one of those where countries don't have players available as they are at clubs in Euroleague and they have fixtures so dont get released, then could be interesting having a double header in that window and a chance for two GB wins.
