Big game for both side particularly Surrey. It would be big if they were to make it to Birmingham after all the struggles at the start of the season.

I make this a winner takes all game.
I know, mathematically it’s not, because if Scorchers lose to Gladiators but beat the Phoenix we’re in … I just feel that the turnaround is too short for us to bounce back from a loss in Glasgow.
Tbh, I can’t see us winning against Cheshire at all but that’s neither here nor there.

A big game for both teams really. I think Caledonia would have fancied themselves to get out of this group when the draw was made, so elimination would be a disappointment for them. Victory for the Gladiators (which I think is likely) makes it a big game for Surrey on Saturday. It'd be great for the Scorchers to make the final four, but just having something interesting to play for is very refreshing! I wrote a small scouting report on Caledonia Gladiators here - Any feedback welcome!

To be honest I'd love to see Scorchers make the final 4 and then beat London Lions in a David vs Goliath style match. Can't see it happening to be honest even if they make the finals as its hard to see anyone beating Lions in a meaningful game. But I suppose you never know.

So, as I understand it, if Surrey win it guarantees them a Final Four slot. If they loose, but still beat Cheshire on Saturday it guarantees they win the group and therefore a Final Four slot. Someone tell me if I’ve got that wrong.
So, making the Final Four at least, is very much in Surreys hands. Having said that, those are two tough games. I’d really love to see them in Birmingham though.

Saiquan Jamison’s Instagram stories make it look an awful lot like he’s back home in Maryland for some sort of funeral. Not quite sure how the Scorchers line up without either him or Hunt at center.
Probably a mix of Tayo, Blockosieme and Elliott Bailey but that’s a lot to ask of those guys.

Presumably there's a fair chance he misses Saturday's game as well?

Daniel Routledge @dan_routledge 13+ is not a necessity, but would be needed for one possible tie. Any win gives Gladiators a decent chance.

Looks like it’s going to be Jonny Bunyans last game before leaving to Falkirk Fury.

25 point loss.
Completely different Scorchers team with no Jamison, Gooden or Hunt.
A bit worried about the Cheshire game now …

End of an era as Jonny retires from pro hoops. Didn’t see it mentioned on socials by the rocks which was pretty poor show. Another reason I am feeling less and less identity with the team. Might take in a few Falkirk games in the coming weeks instead as don’t enjoy Gareth’s brand of basketball anyhow. Just Kyle and Frazer left represent8ng Scotland. Back to Bunyan and would like to thank him for his long service and dedication to the club. Deserves his number retired. As an aside another abysmal crowd

Surrey on a bit of a hiding to nothing with the players they had available tonight. I thought they competed well for the first half, Tayo in particular played well on defence. He and the rest of the team seemed to run out of gas half way through the third quarter and they were well beaten.
Another tough game on Saturday against the Phoenix, especially if Jamison is still missing, which I imagine he will be.
It was a nice moment when they gave Bunyan the technical free throw.

A shame to see Jonny go without much fanfare but that’s just so BBL-ish. I didn’t know until about 5pm today that the game was to be his last which I found very disappointing seeing as how long he’s been in the league. I’ve not managed to a game in East Kilbride and I doubt I ever will even when I’m back visiting Glasgow.

Even if he doesn't play much now I would have expected him to play until the end of the season atleast. Suppose it shows the Gladiators are going in a different direction under the new owner whether fans like it or not.

Life gets in the way sometimes, and I get the impression this is JBs decision and not the organisation. I hope his testimonial gets the turnout it deserves - he's been a great servant for Scottish Glasgow Edinburgh Caledonia Gladiator Rocks down the years as well as Scotlands national programme. One of a crop of BBL stalwarts I feel made the very best of his talent for what it's worth- got a lot of respect for that.

What a terrible night to make it your last game for the club. Looked to be no more than about 200-300 people in that building tonight. Seemed strange to announce it at the game, surely there would be plenty Rocks/Glads fans who would've wanted to be there.

looked very empty on YouTube, you can always get an idea when the crowd shots always contain the same group of people squashed together.

Life is still the organisation - he remains a Caledonia Gladiators employee, he is their Community Development Officer. Suspect like bigz the exit BBL decision is JBs but is driven by the lack of court time (not even in many game day squads) the organisation is giving him and he has a desire to play still. The timing is not a surprise - tomorrow is the deadline day for registering a new player in the Scottish league so if he didn't do it this week, then he would not be playing in SBC till September 2024 and not getting court time in the BBL so not playing the sport he clearly loves.
