I've been to a couple but that was way back in the late 90s early 2000s. Little to no d but plenty of dunks. I suspect many of us will be watching Liverpool v Man U in the FA cup then maybe catching the You Tube stream. Maybe.

I think anyone expecting this to be played like a serious game is going to end up disappointed. The last thing any BBL coach is going to want to see Sunday, including the two guys who'll be on the sidelines, is 40 minutes of tough, competitive basketball.
The South team is surely the stronger of the two. It's got three more Lions players than the North for starters. Throw in the fact that it's being played at the Copper Box and I find myself leaning very much in that direction. South to win. Ted or Matt Morgan for MVP.

So much negativity before the event has even happened…
Well I’m looking forward to it, even if it’s just an entertaining day out and getting some new people to experience British basketball. I’m also hoping it’ll be a bit of a social event with fans from across the country coming together - like the old British Basketball All-Stars Championship event was, but I’ll have to wait and see if that’s the case.
Oh, and I agree. South All-Stars must be the favourites to win.

Oh, and I agree. South All-Stars must be the favourites to win. There is negativity on here because everyone is a partisan fan (not a Partizan fan). But with the wider British public this is probably more of an attraction. A guy at work won tickets for the Trophy final but he didn't want to go and he couldn't give them away. But he said he would go to the All Star game. If it's done well it should be a good day out.

I admire your willingness to give this a chance and to be fair I to will definately give it a look in as I would be curious to see how it goes. But at the same time I think losing a meaningful competition in the Cup for an exbition game doesn't seem great to me. I hope the players themselves as D & J have said on the podcast will be determined to make it interesting and attract the casual fan into becoming a regular fan. Again the only thing that would make it more interesting and add more spice to it would be if they had have atleast had both teams also playing for charity like Soccer Aid etc... That would have probably brought alot more meaning to it for the casual fan and made the BBL look good as well playing ball for a worthy causes. In terms of bringing BBL fans together I do like the idea and see where your coming from for that. But reckon that could have been done better as one user on here mentioned in the form in a magic weekender sort of thing perhaps or a group of mini weekenders around the country. Either way I will probably tape this and then catch up on it once I get round to it. As I suppose we can't fully knock it or support it until we have seen how the game and event goes down overall.

Well the NBL all star games last year were really good and went down to the wire, so it might be like that rather than like the nba game. Worth a watch for sure.

From an Eagles point of view you haven't lost anything. Swapping the BBL Cup for ENBL is a step forward. For 6 of the 10 BBL teams it is a loss though with no European competition.

NBA all star weekend hasn’t been good since the mid 00s, and even then I’m not sure I didn’t enjoy it purely because it was a bit gimmicky. At least there was some competitiveness then (if not full flow). Id wager guys can’t even be bothered with the BBL one in truth, they’d rather just have it on a CV than play in it.

Is there no cash reward for being selected? I think guys would be happier to play in it if they knew they were getting paid for it...

Awful men's all-star game. Five minutes gone in Q1 and it's an utter joke. Seen pensioners with more movement and zip. Look like they're in slo-mo. So disappointing. Didn't expect blood on the dancefloor but thought we might see some defence played.

I'm not watching this live. I'm half way watching the women's game. I'm impressed by the standard and the competitiveness, but not surprised. I don't know if it has any commercial value but I would like to see a few of these played every season. This is better than what you'll see in the WBBL.

Watched the women's game and it was way more competitive. Actually worth spending time watching it.

Just saw the end of the second quarter and it looks like uncontested shooting practice. Players just walking into open 3s - Bizarre.
Seen a few on Twitter saying they’re there and enjoying it though so that’s good.
