Can someone explain what's actually happened here and whether it's likely to occur with any kind of regularity moving forward? Is it possibly related to overseas TV deals? I wasn't planning to attend this one but I definitely want to see the game so it's rather screwed up my plans.

According to Drew Lasker on social media, it’s because they can only handle two games per night and this is the first time this season that there has been three games on one night……

Bills not paid etc. Could be a simple explanation of course but the rumour mills churning.

They can only handle two games in one night. Same situation has already happened multiple times in the league - notably when Sharks tip off had to be delayed due to a late tip off at another venue.

Game was originally Saturday but that doesn't seem to be the excuse.

The obvious answer is that 777/BBL are unwilling to pay the TV production costs for a 3rd game on the same date,
I note that an "Active proposal to strike off" was issued today to wind up the 777's UK company, so there obviously a number of creditors that are seeking to recover the overdue money owed.

I’m absolutely no fan of 777, but it’s always possible that the UK company is just being dissolved using a statutory striking off process that can be used where a company is no longer required and has no creditors. So this may not indicate financial stress. More interestingly, the Lions’ accounts up to 31.12.2022 were Sue to be filed by 31.12.2023 and are now showing as overdue on the Companies House website. They’re only a few days late and sometimes Companies House takes a few days to process documents, but worth keeping an eye out for these.

There’s a simple explanation - the facilities hired by the BBL at the Timeline broadcast centre in Ealing (West London) only have the technical capacity to produce 2 broadcasts at a time. That’s why games this season are scheduled so that, apart from vary rare occasions, there should never be more than 2 games taking place at the same time.

So no major issues to worry about, just bad planning and organisational issues, bit like not getting your accounts filed in time.

🤔 or maybe that's the trade off if you want free, universally accessible, professionalised coverage of (almost) every game in the league, involving some of the leagues best coaches, players and experts and marketable to an overseas audience?

Tough game but I fancy Riders to win this one - hoping Greene doesn't repeat his performance against us and we defend better for the whole 40 minutes.

Amen Do you at least accept that 777 have the reputation and history of not paying bills and debts in a timely manner at all of their sports clubs? From what I've read and seen that appears to be unquestionable? Does that not anger you as to the impact a big organisation is having on all their smaller suppliers ? Stuff like this can put small businesses out of business in and around basketball? Can have a knock on effect on employee wages etc being paid on time. Staff having to be laid off. Are you happy with that? Is it defensible in any way? I'm interested in what your thoughts are? Or are all the unpaid or outstanding and late paid debts across the world (including BBL) just malicious rumours? How can it endear 777 to the public who want to support the sports and clubs that 777 are invested in?

They clearly have full confidence. And why wouldn’t they, the day after 777 led standard liege reported losses of over 20 million euros and a debt increase of 11 million?

The Film and TV industry has massive capacity, so if they wanted, and were willing to pay, they could find good reputable production companies to produce, edit and transmit live coverage of a lot more than 2 games. Indeed most saturdays there is coverage available for about 60 EPL, EFL and SPL games as well as English, Scottish and Welsh rugby etc.
777 can claim it's logistical issues, but the truth is almost certain to be a failure to pay.
