Looks like a dominant bounce back win for the Gladiators! And a good crowd number aswell from the looks of things for boxing day. It was a sold out arena as is Friday against the Lions - and a cracking atmosphere (early on the noise was getting to Manchester coach as he asked the officials to have a word with the in-arena commentator about when he was doing things). We were sat on the courtside floor seats behind Gladiators bench - Gareth at most about 6 to 8ft away during time-outs and it was tough to hear what he was telling the guys, but easy to read the drawings on the tactics board. Just shows how important it is to get the fixture list days and tip times correct to fill venues. Interest and demand is there for the new venue ok, just not 8pm Thursday night and some of the other not so popular times there has been in first part of the season. As to the game - when Robertin got his early buckets and Lewis looked up for the game, did wonder if Gladiators would cope if Lee then got in on the act - but Robertin just disappeared as a scoring threat and to slow back for a defensive stop. Walshe when on seemed out of sorts. Then with Gareth switching the marking about and causing so many stops and turnovers and points from those and fastbreaks the guys just blew the game open and left Giants dead in the water. A wee incident in the 4th - but hey it is an emotional sport at times. Not convinced refs caught the full reason for the bench anger but they handled as well as they could without help of technology. Nice home debut for Bothwell - part of a high scoring Gladiators bench 35pts and Fraser Malcolm never had any of them! Don't think it will have happened often that Fraser played well, had ok minutes and his contribution was in places other than the pts total. Looking forward to seeing Friday night - even though I am having to settle for watching it from home on Sky Mix.
