Hi guys firstly I would like to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2023 to all board members. And congrats to the admins and moderators for keeping this board going for over 2 years.
With the season about to pause soon for the Trophy competition in January 2024. I thought now would be a good time to ask what's everyone's thoughts on their team and the BBL in general this season so far.
Have your expectations been good, better, bad or as expected? And what do you hope for the rest of the season going forward?
To start with for the Eagles I'm pleased we have a better quality team and don't seem to be struggling to scrape the playoffs and I find the team exciting to watch.
Although to be honest I was hoping we would be doing slightly better that what we are at the moment and felt we let some games get away from us. I'm suprised we are keeping Scott Spencer given his lack of minutes and would like to see a new player brought in for him.
As for the league I miss the Cup final and will probably prefer it over the all star game. The coverage I'm a little unsure of as at first it took some getting used to compared to last season. I think I preferred the old logo compared to the grey presentation. But like the effort put into even the YouTube games on broadcasting.
Going forward I hope the Eagles can keep pushing for top 4 finish and make the final in Birmingham next month. And I look forward to the best of 3 playoff series at the end of the season which I have wanted for a while. I just hope we don't draw London in that one and we have a healthy team.

I know it's been said many times but the elephant in the room is the distortion of the league owing to Lions' funding, which is nuts. Rest of the teams don't get a look in. If they had similar funding to other BBL teams then the league would be really interesting because anyone can beat anyone atm.

Ask me at the end of the year, Riders play Flyers and Sharks in the next few days, both only have 1 more win than us, If we can get 2 wins then we will look a hell of a lot better than we did a few games ago. Yes I’m disappointed at how our season has gone so far but I can more than live with it… I still remember us starting a season 0-15.

We've done the harder part by winning our last two games. Looked shaky at times against Giants early on but we got the measure of them as the game wore on. The most important aspect for me was seeing the players enjoying themselves and high fiving each other's successes. Good team morale was sadly lacking before Allen. We ought to improve our defence in the coming weeks and then we'll be a better outfit. Allen's going to lose the rust so I don't think he'll turn the ball over so often like he did against Manchester. All that bodes well for 2024.
