Apparently Redeem Team 3 for the USA Basketball is coming to the London O2 arena next year and will play 2 Olympic Warm Up matches here in July 2024. They'll first take on South Sudan who are coached by former GB player and NBA player Luol Deng. Then they'll have a rematch of the world cup semi finals against Germany after that. www.hoopsfix.com/2023/12/team-usa-coming-to-london-to-face-south-sudan-germany-in-paris-olympics-warm-up/While I'm questioning why this gameis being played on neutral soil. I imagine it will be sold mainly on the chance to see a team full of NBA stars especially on the US roster.

Yeah but Germany beat them recently so that one could be competitive. What an opportunity to see the biggest stars in the sport!

Can anyone find any details on prices? There doesn't seem to be any info available on the AXS site apart from stating that tickets will be available from 13.00 on Friday 15th?

What I find sad about this is the GB national team haven't bothered to get involved in this. Could have maybe included them and then made it a 4 way mini tournament?
Even if we get demolished it would atleast be another way of showcasing GB Basketball especially against Dengs South Sudan team I think that would be really special.

Haven’t bothered, or haven’t been invited? I know we’re talking about different parties here, but it’s common knowledge the NBA don’t let the BBL anywhere near their London events.

But it's not an NBA event though. It's a group of national basketball teams which will feature NBA players and players from other leagues domestically for Sudan and German. Seems like a wasted opportunity for Team GB to get any sort of look in and encourage more fans to get behind the sport and a national team. Again with Deng running Sudan and being a former GB 2012 olympian i reckon you could really market a game there as well. But instead it feels like we're basically saying forget Team GB let's support and watch other countries national teams instead. Makes me seriously question the future of the sport on the national stage if we're not involved in events like this? I mean what are even the chances these games get televised? The Olympics on Eurosport was the only time I seen some national basketball on main stream TV. Every Eurobasket or World Cup they never put any national Bball on TV yet they have decided to host a pre Olympic game in the UK? If Team GB were offered the chance to get involved and turned this down I would be extremely disappointed.

Its a USA Basketball training camp and warmup - and of course they are going to select teams that are also going to the Olympics, why would you want to do warm up games against any country not in an intensive warmup camp hence GB wont have been in their thoughts.
Much like in 2012 they came to Manchester for their warmup - and GB were in intensive camp so were the opponents (was at that game and supporting GB definently felt in the minority at the game). I was fortunate to also see GB earlier in their build up at HBU in Houston in their build up playing Nigeria.
London makes a lot of sense for the venue for USA - cant play in large indoor arena in Paris as will be setup and lockdown for the games so in same way in 2012 Manchester was a large nearby venue, London in 2024 is large nearby venue. No point going to a large venue in Germany as then less chance of having a mainly USA supporting crowd at the games.

I can believe that but to not include them by the organisers does come across a little disrespectful and makes me question why they agreed to host the event over here when our national team isn't included? It would be great if someone from GB Basketball was to see this and maybe ask the organisers if they could be involved in it or atleast something be done for GB Basketball if our national team doesn't get to play. As I said it seems sad that GB fans are being encourage to support another countries national team as opposed to our own national team.

This is a missed opportunity. This could have been a very high profile event for GB basketball. It's still good though, but it almost indicates to the casual sports fan and to the world that GB doesn't have a basketball team. This could have been something that goes down in history like Team GB at the 2012 Olympics.

Was the 2012 Team GB the best GB team ever?

Ticket PricesYikes. I appreciate there's an anticipation that Curry, Lebron, Durant et al. will feature in these, but for me this is ridiculous. For comparison, I've just got back from Memphis where 2x flights + very good tickets for the Grizzlies (who, fair enough, are not exactly the hot ticket right now but it's proper, competitive NBA action) wasn't much more than what you'd pay for 2 decent seats here - and that's before you add the costs of getting there. It's the same with the MLB series in London. Absolute madness but they'll still fill it somehow. I'm sure anyone here who goes will have a great time, but I just can't justify it personally. PS. £20+ fees per ticket? Bore off, Ticketmaster.

That's really expensive, but I think they will sell. Good Christmas present if you can afford it.

£150-£350 for tickets? Yikes indeed!
I was contemplating going, but not as those prices. Fortunately I went to a Team USA game at the 2012 Olympics, so I've seen LeBron, Bryant, Durant, Harden, Davis, Westbrook, etc. play in person, so not going to this next summer is no great loss. It was actually a double header with a Team GB game too. I don't think I fully appreciated what an opportunity it was at the time, but it's so great to be able to say I've seen such legends of the game play.

It's actually cheaper to go see a real NBA game, wow. But it will sell out, so I guess they can argue that it's market forces...

True except you have to factor in the travel to the US or Canada if your watching the Raptors. Plus cost of hotel and insurance etc... But to see an NBA game alone yes that would definately be cheaper. Would prefer it if the NBA was to bring back NBA London and put another regular season game on over here.

It's such a missed opportunity, I'm amazed the NBA has basically abandoned it when you look at what the NFL London games have done for it's popularity and exposure over here. Having said that, I suspect the prices wouldn't be much different to those for these Team USA games.
