Still struggling to understand the signing of Russell by Riders. He’s got to be 3rd choice PG, after Mackenzie and Washington? Although Rob seems reluctant to play Washington this season. Can’t help but feel Riders are still unbalanced this season. Recruitment very poor and un Rob like. New signing looks good but unsure how he slots in, maybe at 3? Thomas at 4 and Idowu or Walker at the 5? Mackenzie at 1 and Holmes at 2??? On paper a strong 5 but be interesting to see how Rob works it. I reckon he might be finding his feet a little bit if he has only played a couple of games. I imagine at this stage Rob is probably using this point in the season to get his team warmed up and ready for a run in the Trophy. Maybe. But I cant see him being a starter, or affecting games to drastically.

Didn't expect much from this one but I did expect more than that. We've all gone home from games disappointed before but that really does rank up there among the absolute shittiest performances I've ever had to sit through. Thank Christ I only paid a fiver to get in. It was ten cents worth of entertainment.
I'm afraid cutting those players has not made us a better team. Addition by subtraction has not happened here. We may have been a trash defensive team as previously configured but we had some serious weapons offensively. Could score with the very best of them in this league. That's not the case now and are we really a dramatically improved team defensively? I don't think so. Getting rid of those 'bad chemistry' guys has not transformed us into some brilliantly cohesive unit, full of confidence and all 'pulling in the same direction'. Say what you like about Caleb Asberry but the guy has talent and he played with more balls and more belief than anyone in a Riders uniform yesterday.
So it's Super Ted to the rescue then... Assuming he didn't watch this game on YouTube and immediately phone for a taxi back to the airport. Couldn't spot him anywhere on/around the Riders bench so I assume he didn't travel with the team.

Welcome to being an Eagles fan last season. We must have subtracted, then added, then subtracted. Then multiply and then divided. Sounds like an Ed Sheeran album when you say it that way. Although if your following in our footsteps you'll finish 8th on the last day of the season after beating Plymouth to go through and then await London Lions who will get granted 2 games a week later in order to put your out your misery.

I still don't see us being as bad as those Eagles sides when all is said and done. We're clearly not the Riders team that everyone's come to know and love right now. But I don't think anyone else has really stepped into those shoes. A lot of the teams above us have records that aren't all that dramatically better than ours. And even Nix/Gladiators are only a mini slump away from being dragged right back into the pack.
Worth bearing in mind too that in our last seven games we've played Lions (with a proper side out) three times, Nix away twice and Sharks away. Not exactly an easy run. So long as the league remains the relative crapshoot it is at present, all is not lost. But if we're going to properly turn things around, much will hinge on this new signing coming in and being the star it looks like he has the potential to be. Hopefully his season and ours will finally get going Friday.
